Three Score Replacements
News Compiled by Lukas Kendall
Some news from crazy Hollywood, where scores come and go like the wind:
Marco Beltrami is frantically replacing some of John Ottman's cues on
Halloween H20. Additionally, some Beltrami's cues from Scream
and Mimic are being tracked in. Reportedly top Miramax brass
wanted the score to more closely resemble the temp track, which was Beltrami's
music.
Michael Kamen is replacing Ennio Morricone on What Dreams May Come,
the new film by Vincent Ward starring Robin Williams. Jeff Bond saw a screening
with the Morricone score, said it was fine, but reportedly the studio is
trying to up the commercial potential of the film... by having Kamen whip
something out in two weeks.
And finally, John Williams is replacing Patrick Doyle in Stepmom,
the new film directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone) starring Julia
Roberts. Why? Evidently Williams's agents decided that Williams wanted
to do the picture. Doyle finished his score a month or two ago and it's
reportedly lovely. I'm glad I'm not the one who broke the news to him.
What did they say? "Glad you're still in remission. By the way, we're
throwing out your score." (Doyle was recently diagnosed with a form
of leukemia but it has been fully treated and he is A-OK.)
In other news, time for you guys in Australia to have something fun:
