Enter the Dragon and The Exorcist CDs

By Popular Demand!

News flash by Lukas Kendall

Today's column is to announce proudly to the world that we have copies of Warner Home Video's excellent CDs of Enter the Dragon and The Exorcist for sale. Copies of The Wild Bunch are still available as well.

These CDs were produced for Warner Home Video's videotape box sets and have not been available independently -- until now.

Enter the Dragon is the complete 1973 Lalo Schifrin score, nearly an hour, a thundering blend of symphonic action and '70s funk. It's the ultimate kung fu score and sounds fantastic in its new remix from the original Warner multitracks. (The existing Japanese CD of this score is the album master, which runs around 25 minutes in inferior sound.)

The Exorcist features the classical selections used in the film by Penderecki, Henze and others, with the unfortunate exclusion (due to licensing problems) of "Tubular Bells" and "Night of the Electric Insects." But everything else is there -- fantastic, creepy avant garde tracks for the scariest movie ever made. And, as a special bonus, the CD includes 15 minutes of Lalo Schifrin's unused score from the film, which prior to this disc had never been heard outside of the recording stage in 1973: Schifrin's shrieking trailer music, orchestral suite, and one source music track. Sound is altogether fantastic. (The existing Japanese CD of this soundtrack is the LP album master and features different music and sound quality.)

Each disc features liner notes by Jon Burlingame.
