Tomorrow Never Dies Score CD News
Quick Report by Lukas Kendall
Good Monday morning. Compass III Records, the new label behind the Avengers
score CD (McNeely) and the upcoming Simple Plan (Elfman) album, will
release a Tomorrow Never Dies CD with more of the David Arnold score.
When Arnold recorded the music for Tomorrow Never Dies, the album
had to be mastered before he had finished with the entire movie. Most of
the latter half of the movie therefore went unrepresented on the CD.
Compass III's CD will include much more of the score, including these
previously unreleased portions. At present it is unscheduled but it will
probably be released this year.
In case you're wondering, there are still no plans for an expanded Independence
Day CD, or a score CD at all to Godzilla. Those scores were
recorded in the U.S., where the musicians re-use fees make such releases
too costly unless they are done at the peak of the movie's visibility.
(The musicians must be paid a percentage of their salaries to release the
music on CD.) Tomorrow Never Dies was recorded in England, where
the re-use fees are paid up-front as a "buy out" and do not apply
in the same way.
We'll bring more news of this album as we hear of it!
Have a great day. Hey, get back to work. It's Monday.
