100 Rifles Update
by Lukas Kendall
I was wondering when this would happen to us, and it finally did: we've
had a bad CD pressing, namely of 100
Rifles, our new release. We announced the title last Wednesday and
hoped to have the discs Thursday to begin shipping to our eager customers;
alas, they arrived yesterday, and Jeff Bond and I were horrifed to discover
a three-second drop-out on one of the tracks. This is bizarre, as nobody
I've talked to has encountered this type of manufacturing defect. (No,
it was not on our masters.)
We are repressing the discs immediately and today (Tuesday) will be
finding out what went wrong. In the best case scenario, we'll have the
corrected discs around this time next; worst case scenario, two or three
weeks.
Naturally, this is hugely frustrating, and I don't know what else to
do except to tell everybody to brace for this small delay. The good news
is that we didn't ship any of the defective discs, so we don't have to
deal with replacements... that would have made me really nuts. The other
good news is that the packaging and artwork on this disc is fantastic and
I think people are going to thrilled.
In the meantime, we are processing orders and credit card charges and
getting all the envelopes ready for next week, so that the second the good
discs are in, we can send them out. We are processing charges in the order
they were received, so early birds will be rewarded when mailing time comes.
Also, for people who ordered an existing item(s) plus 100 Rifles,
I am sending first whatever we have in stock -- don't worry, you will NOT
be charged any extra postage.
Please be patient and thanks for your order! Oh yeah, if you haven't
ordered, you might want to consider this disc -- it's a sensational Jerry
Goldsmith western score.
A reminder: FSM subscribers, if your address changes, tell me!
I've noticed that some readers have asked to have their CDs sent to a different
address than their magazines go to, which in some cases is work or another
residence. If that's the case, don't do anything. But if you've moved,
you have to let me know,
because we ship FSM second class, and it won't be automatically forwarded.
Thanks!
Finally, my thanks to readers for using our secure-server
order form, as well as the order form that comes with FSM. I get mountains
of email every day and it is very hard to answer it all -- even without
the merchandise orders. Using the automated forms really helps me out.
Thanks for being considerate.
Thanks for your patience! I'll update everyone via the site on the progress
of 100 Rifles: Take 2.
