Film Score Friday 9/17/99
by Lukas Kendall
This week's column is a bit of a washout because....
If you're in Los Angeles, come to the Film
Music Society's film music conference today and tomorrow -- we'll be
there! Yesterday was the official introduction of the new Hollywood Composers
stamps at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring an open rehearsal of the Hollywood
Bowl Orchestra performing selections by the represented composers (Steiner,
Waxman, Herrmann, Newman, Tiomkin, Korngold) to a crowd of fans and visiting
schoolchildren. They played Gone with the Wind with its sentimental
version of "Dixie" to a bunch of inner-city black grade school
kids. Kind of weird if you think about it.
See you there!
