We would like to inform your readers about concerts programming
film/concert music composers in Toulouse, France this year and next year:
TOULOUSE, FRANCE: march 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 2000 : the Italian version
of Nino Rota's Il Capello di paglia di Firenze(The strawhat of Italy) and
on march 18, 22, 24, 26 the French version of the same operetta by the
Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse plus tribute to Nino Rota at the Toulouse
Cinematheque.
TOULOUSE, FRANCE: january 19, 2000 : Toulouse National Chamber Orchestra
plays Nyman's On the Fiddle for solo violin and strings.
TOULOUSE, FRANCE: Toulouse National Chamber Orchestra plays Petrassi's
little music for strings. Goffredo Petrassi is Morricone's Master and was
also a film composer during the 40s and 60s.
Oregon Symphony

Dracula
Philip Glass's newly rescored version of Dracula (1931 Bela Lugosi classic)
is now available on video, DVD and CD. The music is for string quartet
and will be performed by Kronos Quartet (who play it in the new version
of the film) at several live events, conducted by Michael Riesman:
October 23-24, screening of the film with live music at Royal Festival
Hall, South Bank Centre, London.
October 26-27, screening with live music at Brooklyn Academy of Music,
New York.
October 29, screening with live music at San Francisco Jazz Festival,
Paramount Theatre, Oakland.
October 30, 31: screening with live music at UCLA Center for the Performing
Arts, Royce Hall, Los Angeles.
John Williams
Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers will perform music
from The Phantom Menace on Sunday, October 24 at 3:00 PM in Seattle's Benaroya
Hall. Conducted by George Shangrow, the program will also include Ralph
Vaughan Williams's Serenade to Music and Randall Thompson's Symphony No.

On February 19, 2000, the Plymouth Music Series will perform Seven for
Luck in Minneapolis' Orchestra Hall. Part of their annual "Witness"
concert honoring Black History Month, it will be conducted by Phillip Brunelle.
