1999 Golden Globe Nominations
News flash by Lukas Kendall
Here they are -- and for some bizarre reason, there are a total of 9
nominees for Best Original Score, recollecting those Oscar nominee lists
from the '30s with a dozen entries per category. I don't know why this
is the case. It's also interesting to see Eyes Wide Shut nominated -- the
film has an interesting use of music, but only a percentage is by Pook,
and only a smaller percentage is original to the film.
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE
"American Beauty," Thomas Newman
"Angela's Ashes," John Williams
"Anna and the King," George Fenton
"The End of the Affair," Michael Nyman
"Eyes Wide Shut," Jocelyn Pook
"The Insider," Lisa Gerraro & Pieter Bourke
"The Legend of 1900," Ennio Morricone
"The Straight Story," Angelo Badalamenti
"The Talented Mr. Ripley," Gabriel Yared
The nominations list for the next category is the usual five.

"Beautiful Stranger" from "Austin Powers: The Spy Who
Shagged Me," Madonna and William Orbit
