Lucille Fletcher Obituary

Lucille Fletcher has died in Langhorne, Pennsylvania at age 88. She was a successful writer of radio dramas whose stories were later made into the films Sorry, Wrong Number, Once Upon a Time and Blindfold. She was also a novelist.

Film music fans recognize Fletcher as the first wife of the legendary Bernard Herrmann. The couple met in the 1930s while working at CBS and divorced in the late 1940s, but managed to collaborate on Herrmann's opera, Wuthering Heights, for which Fletcher wrong the libretto.
