Music Scores on DVDs Track Lists
from Roman Deppe
A number of DVDs feature the music score isolated on a separate audio
track... and a number of soundtrack fans have made lists of the music these
releases have. Holy cow, they're like special CD releases when you think
about it!
Roman adds about The Dark Crystal: I made up all Cue-Names by myself
as the cues are reportedly mostly pretty different to the tracks on the
original LP release (which I never held in my hands) - I hope these names
give the best overview of where the music in the movie plays.
It may also be added that many cues are just cut off (due to the re-editing
of the movie) or faded out and in again. In addition to that sometimes
the sound quality isn't absolutely perfect. So, folks, before you buy the
DVD only for the score: Be warned, you may be disappointed! But anyhow
the score is wonderful and worth listening on its own.

Total: 65:10 (excluding some isolated Songs without Transitions, END
CREDITS are songs, so I didn't include them).
Roman adds:
Also, the transitions are just some seconds long, but then again Davis
re-arranged some parts of the here included songs to fit certain scenes
or hit specific persons within the pictures. So, all in all there should
be around 60 minutes "pure" and new Davis music.
It should be said however, that most of the music doesn't offer very
much to listen to isolated on CD. It's mostly very low and slow music,
brooding in the background, also the asian-styled-kodo-music seems a little
bit out of place at times. But at the end you get around 15 minutes pure
action music, which ranks among the most aggressive music in years.
Oh, and sorry for the strange track-titles. I made them all up and tried
to be original (how pathetic). Did anyone get the Anagram-titles? (Davis
made that up in the first place, look at the Varese CD!).
