Film Score Friday 11/24/00

Short column today due to the holiday...
OK, Batman...
thank you, everybody, for your patience with this title. Although we announced
the CD a month ago, we discovered a pressing problem just as we were beginning
to take orders and had to get the manufacturing done all over again. That's
because we care about these things and want our discs to be done right.
But it did mean that we had to sit on ALL of the orders for the past three
weeks until the final, corrected discs came in... which just happened last
week. So as of now we are frantically filling our orders. If you placed
an order for the Batman CD, your disc IS BEING MAILED NOW. Thank you for
your patience.

I can't understand the "Helpful TZ Buying Tip" on your
11/17/00
column. The new German TWILIGHT ZONE CD, as also UNDER FIRE, can be ordered
from Screen Archives for $20.00 each, plus $3.00 for postage.

German Music Express (http://www.musicexpress.com)
has the Twilight Zone: The Movie soundtrack for $13.28 (plus $4.95 shipping
to USA).
Also, in other news, the DVDs of Twilight Zone (the original '60s
series) are now including isolated scores for both the originally scored
episodes (including some Herrmann and Goldsmith) and the library-cues episodes.
That's a terrific development. We'll have more info next time including
a list of episodes represented.

While enjoying another Jason Comerford essay today, my
eyes plowed into the error of naming the wrong director for FRIGHT
NIGHT (1985). Jason gave Todd Holland as the director of this great cheese
pizza of a Vampire flick - when actually, TOM HOLLAND (THINNER, CHILD'S
PLAY, many TALES FROM THE CRYPT episodes, etc.,) directed this one!
I covered both CHILD'S PLAY and FRIGHT NIGHT 2 for CINEFANSTASTIQUE
magazine - Tom Holland is a very underated director and under-utilized.
Like-wise, Tomm Lee Wallace is multi-talented - hopefully Wallace will
give us a great sequel in his upcoming VAMPIRES (II)! I've just seen THE
SIXTH DAY -- and Trevor Rabin's score has me gaga and google-eared - I
can't wait to spin this CD over and over again!! Good movie too!!
