If it is anything like that then I am definitely interested. For the film, not so much. I do find Eshkeri a very frustrating composer. He can sometimes knock it out of the park -- his short score for Austenland earlier this year is simply delightful, one of my favorites of the year -- but is also very often in situations where he's either comfortable to or asked to churn out extremely generic or derivative stuff. When some producer tells his office junior to go out and find a selection of "kick-ass" music for his ad or game or whatever, he can go through Varese's descriptions and get audition material for those kinds of recordings to give to his boss as something to choose from. Not much different to any other professional music library/agency really. Only instead of offering generic library material like, say, DeWolfe, they offer what passes as "real" music on the basis that it's actually been used in a film and belongs to them. I'm really looking forward to seeing this film and hearing the score in full. Looks like a great deal of it made its way onto the album. My favorite score of his is this year's short but lively Austenland. It does meander a bit. But I find his melodies lovely, and the ethnic instruments are used excellently. I should check more into this Eshkeri guy. Yes TM, I've heard of Stardust and all the praise it gets, but never checked it out...
