I only got a very embarrassing 14, with my biggest shame being, for "Dances With Wolves," I jotted down "Wyatt Earp?," knowing, of course, that it WASN'T "Wyatt Earp." Which one "popped"? Well, the first, Williams' "Star Wars," seemed to hit me in the face, and later it was Elmer Bernstein's "The Magnificent 7" that seemed to really sizzle. Frankly, I'm sure that each of us here could make our own list of 60 brief soundtrack clips that WE could name but the person who made this list probably couldn't!

Re: This test was fun. I wish a list of movies was published at the end as I'm not sure of a few of my answers, but I felt I got about 25 or so correct. The one that popped out for me was the John Dunbar cue. Usually that theme in the movie is slow, but one time Barry rocks that cue, and this youtube used that one. I'd love to see Jeff Bond and Lukas take this test. Maybe they could post almost all the answers if not all of them. Joan: You didn't see this? CHILDISH: #1 - Star Wars #2 - Once upon a time in the west #3 - Simpsons - The Movie #4 - Ghostbusters #5 - Beverly Hills Cop #6 - Pink Panther #7 - Star Trek #8 - Terminator 2 #9 - Mission Impossible #10 - Lion King EASY: #11 - Pulp Fiction #12 - The Boat #13 - Pirates Of The Caribbean #14 - Jurassic Park #15 - Titanic #16 - Hatari #17 - 1492 - Conquest Of Paradise #18 - The Godfather #19 - Raiders Of The Lost Ark #20 - Lord Of The Rings AMATEUR: #21 - Ice Age #22 - Back To Future #23 - Halloween #24 - Forrest Gump #25 - A Fistful Of Dollars #26 - Jaws #27 - Harry Potter #28 - Battlestar Galactica #29 - The Magnificent Seven #30 - Gladiator AVERAGE: #31 - Home Alone #32 - Saw #33 - American Beauty #34 - A Beautiful Mind #35 - Inception #36 - Road To Perdition #37 - My Name is Nobody #38 - The Blade Runner #39 - Lawrence Of Arabia #40 - The Rock TRICKY: #41 - The Shawshank Redemption #42 - Finding Nemo #43 - Judge Dredd #44 - Dances With Wolves #45 - Pearl Harbor #46 - Rain Man #47 - The Black Hole #48 - The Bodyguard #49 - True Lies #50 - Aliens EXPERT: #51 - Polar Express #52 - Willow #53 - Army Of Darkness #54 - The Aviator #55 - Urban Legend #56 - The Abyss #57 - Nightmare Before Christmas #58 - Signs #59 - The Green Mile #60 - Spider Man

While I'm not questioning anybody's claims here, I find it hard that anyone got more than 45. Cues from films like the following stumped me: 1492 Das Boat Ice Age Halloween Home Alone Saw Inception My Name Is Nobody The Rock Judge Dredd Army of Darkness The Aviator Urban Legend The Abyss Nightmare Before Christmas Signs Spider Man And I even have some of those films in my collection! I'm quite impressed.

To Ray Worley, re: "I missed films I don't care for and scores I don't like. In most cases, the ones I missed were both." I totally agree. If I don't care for a film or its music, I don't dwell on it, nor do I have an aural photographic memory for all soundtracks I may have been exposed to in my life. I could bring out 15 seconds each of "Stevie" and "Love And Pain And The Whole Damn Thing" and "Sheila Levine Is Dead And Living In New York" and 57 others and probably stump some of those here.

Thor: I think they do. People of MY generation (growing up in the late 50s and early 60s) very much associate "Baby Elephant Walk" with John Wayne's "Hatari," and I said both titles as soon as I heard the first notes.

Re: Thor: I think they do. People of MY generation (growing up in the late 50s and early 60s) very much associate "Baby Elephant Walk" with John Wayne's "Hatari," and I said both titles as soon as I heard the first notes. Maybe, but I'm not too sure about the younger generation. Neither about the familiarity outside the US. It's like one of those themes many have heard, but can't quite place. I'm not sure people over here would catch it unless they were film/film music geeks like myself. Thor: Again, I'm agreeing with you that most people here in their 20s and 30s and 40s WOULDN'T have made the connection -- while many in MY generation would. As I look at some of the titles, I see a number that I would never have a reason to remember. Even "Judge Dredd," certainly not a favorite film of mine, I have its soundtrack CD on my shelf because I found a cheap and unopened copy of it and its composer, Alan Silvestri, caught my eye, but don't think I've ever even played it. "Terminator 2"? Have all 3 "Terminators" on DVD and Blu-ray, but never paid much attention to their music. "Ice Age"? I have very little interest in animation beyond an occasional Disney or "South Park" title. I could go on and on about why I had little reason to remember several of those 60, just like many of the readers here might not recognize an aria from "Lakme" or "The Tales of Hoffman" or "La Rondine," or, for that matter, the 1st piano concerto of Sergei Bortkiewicz, which I would immediately be able to place. I had little reason to remember many of those 60 and suspect that several here didn't either. But the quiz was fun, if a little frustrating, and my compliments to those who DID do well on it!
