Those who purport to be film music aficionados but do not purchase such a great score need to be exposed here as charlatans. Admit your folly by adding your name to this List of Shame if you do not intend to acquire this long-lost and now miraculously-resurrected score.
My tastes lie more firmly in the Silver Age, but I do like a number of Golden Age composers. Tiomkin, for whatever reason, simply doesn't do it for me. I've tried a number of his scores and they just don't speak to me. I did try the samples, but I'm going to give this a pass.
I know that this was posted with tongue firmly in cheek, but I still finding it a bit offensive... it's certainly not a good way to get film music fans of more recent eras interested in older scores.
It is a strange question. Gunfight at the O.K. Corral is the only one of the bunch that I was interested in. And I'm thrilled especially because of the rumors of it's loss.
I'm embarrassed to say that I could never take Michael Kamen seriously because he use to come in to score TV commercials for us in the mid 1970s and I wasn't impressed. But at the time I was comparing him to the likes of John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith and even Dimitri Tiomkim. Now I guess I would consider him a genius compared to what we have now.
I bought it with enthusiasm, but I for some reason don't have the feeling of superiority within me. Oh yeah, it must be because I bought the amazing Lethal Weapon set as well.

I was thrilled to see it offered and ordered it right away.
The appreciation of music is subjective, so I think it's presumptuous to brand anyone who doesn't agree with one's taste. Most of the postings on this forum don't seem to concern films or music that are more than ten years old.
I Love Tiomkin but I am not buying it now because I am more than sure it won't sell out. So nothing to be ashamed for. The ONLY thing I really care NOW is confirmation to get my autographed Folk and Ottman copies.
Me. Every score that I own that was composed before late 1960's (with a few exceptions) was given to me by my father who said he did not want them anymore. They were played a few times and now they sit collecting dust.
I'm buying it. In fact this is the only recent release I'm getting. Don't get me wrong, there are others I would like but just can't afford at the moment. And this is the one I want the most. Priorities, eh?
