Those who purport to be film music aficionados but do not purchase such a great score need to be exposed here as charlatans.
Admit your folly by adding your name to this List of Shame if you do not intend to acquire this long-lost and now miraculously-resurrected score.

Why should someone care if someone else bought the score or not? I generally don't buy scores for films I haven't seen.

Pro Golden agers have this elitist attitude that everything older is therefore better.

My tastes lie more firmly in the Silver Age, but I do like a number of Golden Age composers. Tiomkin, for whatever reason, simply doesn't do it for me. I've tried a number of his scores and they just don't speak to me. I did try the samples, but I'm going to give this a pass.

I know that this was posted with tongue firmly in cheek, but I still finding it a bit offensive... it's certainly not a good way to get film music fans of more recent eras interested in older scores.

Chris, the Charlatan.

It is a strange question.
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral is the only one of the bunch that I was interested in.
And I'm thrilled especially because of the rumors of it's loss.

I'm embarrassed to say that I could never take Michael Kamen seriously because he use to come in to score TV commercials for us in the mid 1970s and I wasn't impressed. But at the time I was comparing him to the likes of John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith and even Dimitri Tiomkim. Now I guess I would consider him a genius compared to what we have now.

I am not a fan of Dimitri Tiomkim.

I won't be buying it cos it's too old school, sounds soooooo dated and I prefer Goldsmith's and Broughton's take on it!

Now, Basil, tell ME if you're NOT buying FROZEN by Chris Beck and then hang YOUR head in shame!!

I bought it with enthusiasm, but I for some reason don't have the feeling of superiority within me. Oh yeah, it must be because I bought the amazing Lethal Weapon set as well. smile

Me too. Who could turn Tiomkin down?

I was thrilled to see it offered and ordered it right away.

The appreciation of music is subjective, so I think it's presumptuous to brand anyone who doesn't agree with one's taste. Most of the postings on this forum don't seem to concern films or music that are more than ten years old.

I am not not buying it. I love the score as it's represented on Bernstein's FMC recording and I'm interested in hearing more.

I Love Tiomkin but I am not buying it now because I am more than sure it won't sell out.
So nothing to be ashamed for.
The ONLY thing I really care NOW is confirmation to get my autographed Folk and Ottman copies.

Me. Every score that I own that was composed before late 1960's (with a few exceptions) was given to me by my father who said he did not want them anymore. They were played a few times and now they sit collecting dust.

I'm not buying it because I haven't seen the film. It's as simple as that. I don't go out on blind dates either.

Jonathan--believe me, it's HARDLY represented on the Elmer Bernstein Collection.

I bought the Lethal Weapon set, more than enough music to hold my tastes.

I'm buying it. In fact this is the only recent release I'm getting. Don't get me wrong, there are others I would like but just can't afford at the moment. And this is the one I want the most. Priorities, eh?

Nope. I have 0 interest in "Golden Age" titles. Simply not my taste.

I might get it but it's not a MUST BUY.
If it's still around when I have $20 to spend...but other items are ahead of it.
