Sounds like a new-peplum movie. Which I used to love. Inane, but fun, with great sets and costumes, and real people for crowds.
Glad to hear the music is good.

It's surprising how easy people are at passing on great music just because it's a digital download.

Actually, you put it perfectly: "a better than average peplum."
Went to see it today, in a theatre with maybe a dozen people, total.
Not bad. Nice sets and costumes. The hero seems to be a Chris Hemsworth wannabe. Either that, or the producers originally wanted a "Chris Hemsworth type," which is logical. He's just OK. The script and story owe a lot to GLADIATOR. And, without sharing spoilers, the ending seems tacked on, making me wonder that the ending as it is is not the one originally planned.
And, in agreement with various reviewers, Liam McIntire walks away with every second he can get his hands on. He not only looks and acts better than the lead, he has a better written part to work with. Although, spoilers again, he sort of disappears at one point.
As for the music, well, I thought it was just OK, with some nice, though not particularly memorable, moments.
But lots of hunky, bearded guys fighting it out. Which suits me just fine...
Could have been back in the Sewickly Theatre, at another Sunday matinee.
Fun, but I don't think I even want the video, unless they clear up that truncated ending...
