Marvelous score. Lovely romantic music, choral scoring for the battles near the end.

As for the film...if you can't say something nice...

Any other thoughts?

Haven't seen the film, not going to. Have been hoping for a score release.

Wow Kantelinen scored this one? Would love to see a score put out. Also no interest in the film.

Well, glad to hear it's good... but until someone releases it, there is nothing to talk about...

I thought The Legend of Hercules was really good. Had the right mix of story and visuals. Extra points for the fact that they had cool costumes, built all the sets and kept CGI to a minimum. Actors were good and even the ones in supporting roles gave strong performances (Liam McIntyre from Spartacus has a good role). I learned a long time ago that movie critics are biased towards art-house films and against commercial blockbusters, so I stopped relying on them as an accurate way to predict my enjoyment of a film. Anyhow, I was paying attention to the music during the entire movie and I do agree with SBD that it was a marvelous, romantic score. Great action music, but I think the love theme stood out to me even more. This is my first experience with Tuomas Kantelinen and I’ve very impressed with his abilities. I was sad to see that the score is not available yet (or may never be). I would think iTunes or Amazon would at least offer it as a digital download. If anyone learns of a release date, please post. Cheers.

If the trailer actually looked good I might ignore the critics but the trailer was laughable at best. Not going anywhere near that film.

Movie seems to have come and gone, without much interest from anyone.

I'll try to catch it before it disappears to video.

Sounds like a new-peplum movie. Which I used to love. Inane, but fun, with great sets and costumes, and real people for crowds.

Glad to hear the music is good.

Sounds like a neo-peplum movie. Which I used to love. Inane, but fun, with great sets and costumes, and real people for crowds.

Glad to hear the music is good.

Oh come on guys, iTunes exclusive? If it is going to be digital download at least also put it on Amazon or Google. I guess I'll have to register for an account to download this one.

EDIT: So I gave in and bought this on itunes because this composer is one of my favorites. I had a few problems but mostly because of my own unfamiliarity with itunes. Still I'm just glad that this is available at all.

So far I have quite enjoyed this one over a few listens. There are a number of interesting themes in here. I find I prefer the quieter chamber cues though because there seems to be some form of synth present in the bigger epic cues, whether it is doubling or something else. Either way many of the bigger epic cues sound a bit off.

It's surprising how easy people are at passing on great music just because it's a digital download.

It's surprising to me how many people are willing to settle for music in a lossy format -- and one that's not even close to universal no less -- not to mention use iTunes in general which is a horrid horrid program.

It is a horrible program and I do have a problem with lossy downloads. However, I am also a huge fan of this composer so I'm not going to sit around and miss out on this one hoping it may someday get a lossless release.

I am a big Kantelinen fan too, but simply not willing to waste my money on such a crappy "product".

John, you better get to it before Friday because it looks like it's being pulled from theaters - except later showings at a 2nd run discount cinema. Im going to try tomorrow or Thursday but we are in the deep freeze here in the Midwest so....

I caught the 1st 20 minutes last week and it was actually pretty good - also the 3D was decent . A better than average peplum.

Actually, you put it perfectly: "a better than average peplum."

Went to see it today, in a theatre with maybe a dozen people, total.

Not bad. Nice sets and costumes. The hero seems to be a Chris Hemsworth wannabe. Either that, or the producers originally wanted a "Chris Hemsworth type," which is logical. He's just OK. The script and story owe a lot to GLADIATOR. And, without sharing spoilers, the ending seems tacked on, making me wonder that the ending as it is is not the one originally planned.

And, in agreement with various reviewers, Liam McIntire walks away with every second he can get his hands on. He not only looks and acts better than the lead, he has a better written part to work with. Although, spoilers again, he sort of disappears at one point.

As for the music, well, I thought it was just OK, with some nice, though not particularly memorable, moments.

But lots of hunky, bearded guys fighting it out. Which suits me just fine...

Could have been back in the Sewickly Theatre, at another Sunday matinee.

Fun, but I don't think I even want the video, unless they clear up that truncated ending...
