Way back at the beginning of the FSM CD series, when we were doing some Fox titles, we actually transferred a few of the mono Nelson Riddle scoring masters (before we learned that the ownership would make the licensing impossible). We did the Batman movie instead as its ownership was much simpler. I have to tell you...the TV scores were amongst the most annoyingly repetitive and drab things I had ever heard! Sorry...

Ah, yes, but a disc with just one version of the cues would be nice. Also, Billy Mays' completely different soundtrack for season three. With your reasoning, you would never have made the Batman movie soundtrack, which incidentally there are tracks on it that can be used for some of the second season music from the series!
Lets not forget every villain has his/her own cue--how many villains were there? If memory serves, 27 or 28. There's also a "Batmusic" version of the Batusi in a King Tut episode--Al Hirt's trumpet to die for, underwater Batfight music in the John Astin Riddler episode, etc...Lets also not forget the Batgirl Theme that has ever been released.
Yes, to a person who is not a Batman fan, it sounds like it's all DADADADADADA BATMAN--But I could go through all the seasons and get a varied assortment for sure.
All soundtracks are repetitive--You did the James Bond CDs lol!
To quote a line from one of my favorite James Bond movies: "A no from you has little chance of becoming a yes" and I do respect you as you know, but I have to disagree with you.
Remember, even the Beatles were turned down at first. Consider me George Martin.

Sitting through whole scores might be bad listen, but a CD of highlight cues would be great. Just for example, take the hugely over-the-top "rolling danger" cue in "The Penguin Declines," in the scene where Robin has been swallowed by a giant clam. You could easily get one CD of spectacular highlights.

I find that hard to believe. After all FSM released "The Poseidon adventure" and "The French connection" and "Demon seed". Good films but the music? Oh vey!!! That is if you can call it music.
Then there is "Caine's 100" or the "Star Trek the next generation". More drones than the sky above Pakistan.
With all due respect Disco Stu, you're doing the same thing you're accusing Lukas, but now in a far less respectable manner.
And I'm not sure where you're getting your ideas from on the two television scores referenced. There's next to no droning in the ST:TNG Ron Jones box. I have the set. I listened to it all. More than once. I have reviewed it at [url=http://www.maintitles.net/reviews/star-trek-the-next-generation-the-ron-jones-project/]length[/url].
The score is mostly composed of light electronic experimentation (early on), orchestral edge, some light jazz compositional stylings (he protege under Schifrin some), with also a number of fully bodied orchestral cues ranging from dynamic action material, to softer passages. I'll admit I probably can't express the music as well as say Jeff Bond could, but I think I did a decent job there.
I'm strugling to even come up with ten droning cues.

And I'm fairly certain "Cain's Hundred" pre-dates droning as we know it today. Maybe you meant something else.
We all have our opinions on scores, some stronger than others. But I can live with Lukas not enjoying "Batman". I'm sure there's a "Holy ________" Robin quote to be made of it, but still.

While I realize a thick skin is needed on this board (being a member since 2002) I also know that people have their likes and obsessions, if you will (mine being the 66 Batman music.) I would be lying if I said that my feelings weren't hurt, but I just move on.
Your feelings were hurt because Lukas expressed his opinion? You feel that you need a thick skin if people disagree with you?
It's not like he was rude about it. He just said what he thought of the music.
