We’re Back!

After plowing through an initial pile of obscure sheet music of film scores and songs, our intrepid pianist and brave singers are heading back into the studio to party again.

AND WE WANT YOU TO PICK THE PLAYLIST!

Over the next few weeks look over the sheet music posted here and make your suggestions:
http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=96853&forumID=1&archive=0

Once again the gang will be sight-reading the music and we will be capturing the hijinks of the high wire act of everyone running through a giant stack of sheet music and performing it with no rehearsal.

It’s our party and we will be sharing it with you here and on YouTube.

Here is what has been posted so far from both set of recording sessions:

Monica from THE CARPETBAGGERS, as Morricone mentioned above, would be lovely to hear. I'm not sure the song was ever professionally recorded, and it's an absolutely gorgeous melody.

Radness, thanks SMM smile I actually went through and checked out a bunch of the old vids from before, and really enjoyed them, lots of fun - Explorers inspired me to revisit that score again to great effect this weekend!
The thought of your pianist pounding through a Simonetti & gang piece both cracks me up and has me in great antica......pation (little Rocky Horror humor there).

Cheers!

Goblinscore,

The insanity of doing Goblin on a piano is just the kind of insanity we crave.

Looking forward to hearing how that turns out!

I'll send you THE SUN ALSO RISES ("The Lights of Paris") if you want to record it. I'd love it if you did.

I'd also like to hear Rosenthal's BRASS TARGET, but it seems you have a piano solo, no lyrics (maybe there never were?). But I'd still like to hear it.

Thanks for getting back into the recording booth for us!

Alfred Newman - AIRPORT - "The Winds of Change"

I've never heard the lyrics.

Hi, sheetmusicman.

When you had done your initial rounds of requests to record months ago, I was one of the earliest posters to offer suggestions - some of which apparently did not get recorded.

I had asked for FACES IN THE DARK by Mikis Theodorakis and Alex North's THE OUTRAGE as well as a number of others.
While some of my choices did get recorded (like Tiomkin's HADJI BABA and Grainer's MAN WITH A SUITCASE), I wonder if my other previous suggestions will be reviewed again?

Or, perhaps, you decided against certain titles mentioned (maybe they were not 'cheerful' enough)?

I will add Mancini's "The Hills of Yesterday" from THE MOLLY MAGUIRES, since all I've ever heard are the just-okay lyrics by Will Jennings on the Monica Mancini recording. I'd like to hear what Paul Francis Webster came up with.

I don't think SMM is strictly sticking to 'lieder', David, since many of the samples
I watched were lyric free smile

DavidinBerkley, would love to include the song from THE SUN ALSO RISES. Please send to info@kraft-engel.com. The AIRPORT and MOLLY MAGUIRES songs sounds like they would be interesting, too.

ToneRow, will try to get to FACES IN THE DARK and THE OUTRAGE. Thank you SO much for your previous suggestions, especially HADJI BABA which turned out to be one of our favorites.

Lukas,

Very cool link. So interesting when music we know in one context takes on another life.

BTW, Friday, March 28 is the cut-off date for making suggestions for the playlist.
