Revisited The Rescuers on Netflix. Made in a decade when Disney was cutting corners, were really producing sloppy animation, and their films felt more like Saturday morning cartoons. But the film was very successful and it has it's moments. Young blood at Disney hinted at a slight upward climb in quality which would soon follow in the 80's.

Anyway, the score never received an OST treatment. A few of it's (very charming) songs were attached to the re-release of the Rescuers Down Under. So I wonder if the soundtrack is lost? I really can't imagine why they would release something like The Aristocats on CD and not this.

Would really like to see Robin Hood as well. Mostly for the songs than the score which I have no memory of.

Unrelated to your post, solium, but relevant to your thread's header, I wish for soundtracks from late-'50s/early '60s Disney productions which utilized British composers.

William Alwyn did at least 2 (IN SEARCH OF THE CASTAWAYS and the 1960 SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON), Francis Chagrin did GREYFRIARS BOBBY and most of all I wish for Gerard Schurmann's DR. SYN.

Would also be interested in an LP-to-CD album of Ron Grainer's THE MOONSPINNERS.

ONE OF OUR DINOSAURS IS MISSING - Ron Goodwin. Doug at Intrada commented a while back about "stuff in the works," and mentioned this one and CANDLESHOE - also by Goodwin - as being among the Disney scores that he enjoyed, so we'll see.

I'm still hoping the score for Ducktales The Movie will be released at some point. Since it's David Newman (and Disney) it could possibly be released by Intrada someday.

I absolute adore this score. I know it by hearts, since I rewatched this movie countless times as a kid.

George Bruns' THE SWORD IN THE STONE. One of my grails. It's been a while since I've seen the film, but I would greatly love for this to be released. The Sherman Bros. songs would be nice to have as well.

This is a re-vised post I made at the Intrada forums mid 2011:

Walt Disney Productions (all these according to IMDb)

"Something Wicked This Way Comes" (rejected; Delerue)
"Night Crossing " (complete, remastered; Goldsmith

Walt Disney Pictures
"The Incredibles" (complete; Giacchino. The demo cues John Barry recorded with with orchestra in NY)

"The Emperor's New Groove" (how ever much of Shaiman's rejected score was recorded -- don't care about the replacement)

"102 Dalmatians" (David Newman)

"Inspector Gadget" (Shaiman's fully recorded, rejected score)

"Operation Dumbo Drop" (complete, remastered; David Newman; if Poledouris did anything, than include that, too)

"The Jungle Book" (Poledouris; recorded more than was in the movie, so there's some unheard treasure out there...)

"Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" (Broughton; but I want to hear Shire's rejected score, really)

"The Mighty Ducks" (David Newman)

"The Rocketeer" (complete; Horner)

"Ducktles: The Movie" (David Newman)

"Never Cry Wolf" (the two rejected scores, which I am told are very good)

And, of course:
"Ducktales: The Animated Series"

I removed "UP" and "White Fang", since they eventually came after after the posting.

I have this deep, sneaking fear that if Intrada ever does decide to tackle anything of the DuckTales persuasion, when they announce it in the forum, the thread header will read INTRADA ANNOUNCES DUCKTALES, I'll get super excited... and then click on the thread only to find out they mean the movie and merely forgot to put an indicator in the header. I'll probably have to crawl into a dark hole and take several hours to recover if that ever happens.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do think David Newman's score for the movie has some real incredible spots in it and some great melodies... it's just that Ron Jones's score for the TV series hits a helluva lot closer to home for me, and I respond to his instrumentation choices better.

I'd absolutely love to see Robin Hood and Swiss Family Robinson released. And I know I will get laughed at for mentioning these...but they are Disney and I grew up watching them so I'd love to see the scores released. Ernest Goes to Camp, Saves Christmas and Goes to Jail. I know those are not in demand at all, though.

As far as expanded/complete releases: Dick Tracy & The Rocketeer.

I would buy 'The Rescuers' in a heartbeat. The music and the film are truly underrated.

All the animated omnibus features. Only Fantasia was ever released in any significant form.

While we're at it I would love Fun and Fancy Free, Make Mine Music and Melody Time.

The good news being Intrada will surely release obscure movie scores from the Disney archives as time permits, and Disney themselves are remastering and expanding their animated classics.

The future looks bright.
