Can we have a few more clues about the content of Disc 1, like what are the differences in the pieces from (for just one example) "The Cage", that already appear on the old TOS set and are now issued again. Did the corresponding tracks in the original TOS set have shortcomings that were deemed significant enough to warrant issuing a new disc of replacement cues? I'm not interested in the other discs in the new set, but I'd like to know more about Disc 1.

Indeed, not a particular fan of Star Trek music, apart from the fact that the original series includes some composers I like. But the only thing I can see above is "most of which were released on our TOS BOX SET". So doesn't look too interesting for fans of Silver Age stuff. The animated series is from that period, but I've never heard of the composers (or the series), so it seems something quite obscure, and I'm not sure I would buy a 5 CD set for it.

The heavy TOS and TNG focus is disappointing. I was hoping for more DS9 and maybe some Voyager and Enterprise. But I'm sure there's people who want to hear some of what's been collected here (like the Animated Series material).

This is a really odd set. It's awesome they got so many obscure tracks, but it really feels like they scraped up a bunch of musical leftovers and put them on a plate. Not what I would have expected for an anniversary collection of STAR TREK. It's almost all TOS (TAS) and TNG.

DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise are all grossly under-represented here.

This really looks like the only misfire in the Black Friday batch. frown

Lookks like the perfect set for those who already own all the previous released sets, but this is a misfire if they are trying to get the non-collector who is wanting music to celebrate the 50th Anniversary!

The piece I wanted from "The Measure of a Man" is on there! Woohoo!

The score from DS9 isn't. Sadface. Hopefully "Hard Time" will be on the next DS9 set!

I'm seeing lots more early McCarthy goodness, plus "Inner Workings" with the wind machine and "Epilogue/End Title" sans Nimoy. I like it! I just wish disc 1 were different. smile

Oh wow! You think so? Those are the two glaring omissions from those expanded scores.

I also noticed that there's a weeee bit of time left open on some of the discs based on the track listings. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an extra Easter Egg hidden in there like BTAS.

Even if there isn't - what an incredible accomplishment - seeing the Animated series on this set is fantastic, Star Trek Borg - and a few more requests of mine like Q-pid, Future Imperfect, and the music from the two dates in LESSONS? That's just plain rad LLL, holy smokes - that's what I'm talking about!

Tuesday can't come soon enough!!!

Well, since it's limited to 3000 copies, I'd say it's probably aimed at the collector market. And as a collector, I'm pretty happy with this set (though would like a bit more info on disc 1. Is it just the library music that a better source was found for, or are we looking at ANOTHER release of the TOS scores further down the line?)

Once again im speecchless. ST TAS. One of my animated holy grails. That alone is reason to buy this set.

Does that mean there's hope for other filmaton like Spiderman 1967 or Fantastic Voyage? Though with Fantastic Voyage, Id suspect 5-6 tracks and part of another restore on same cd or set.

DEJA Q #161
Music by Dennis McCarthy
9. La Paloma (traditional) (1:13)

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music Edit
? Composer Dennis McCarthy talks about his work for "Deja Q" in the article "Dennis McCarthy - Music for the Stars" in The Official Star Trek: The Next Generation Magazine Vol. 14, pp. 7-9. The spotting session was held shortly before New Year's Day 1990 and had like almost always no visual and sound effects in it. The recording session was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 19 January 1990 at the 20th Century Fox Scoring Stage, where The Next Generation was recorded since Paramount Pictures closed down their own stage during the second season. The orchestra for "Deja Q" required 12 violins, four cellos, four bass, one flute, one oboe, one B-Flat clarinet, three horns, two trombones, three trumpets, two pianos, one guitar and one percussion. Armin Steiner mixed together all of the instruments onto a single stereo recording at a master control board. For this episode he had a total of 17 music cues, which add up to about 18 minutes and the orchestra finished at 5:00 p.m. McCarthy then had the task to rerecord the trumpet play of actor John de Lancie and fill it into the piece "La Paloma" which was played by the El Mariachi band directly during the filming of the scene.

Also my first thoughts on seeing the track listing were pretty much this:
