didn't read the book but I really liked the 1978 movie as it was. If they re-adapted the book, they'd probably cast Adam Sandler in the Elliot Gould role; sure you'd want that?

1978? Damn, that long ago. Remember that night, as though it were yesterday. Stopped by a friends, stayed too long, rushed from Hyattsville, Maryland into DC. Drive took about 25 minutes. Finding a parking space on a Saturday night was crazy. Rushed into theater just as lights dimmed.

Curtis Hanson should consider a remake, his script was done a disservice by the cast and direction. The Oscar Peterson score, as heard in the film really is a standout jazz score. A totally bland LP version of the score was recorded and I doubt even fans of Peterson's music took note. I'll only make this comment You might wish to take a moment after viewing this film and making close attention to the score and review the Ken Wannberg's scores to such films as THE CHANGLING,MOTHERLODE,OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN and THE AMATEUR. You should also bear in mind that Mr. Wannberg was is credited on this film as MUSIC ARRANGER and CONDUCTOR... Also I don't think Oscar Peterson has done anything like this before or since and that what you hear on the album is very different then what is heard in the film. So make of this what you will. ‘The 90's just whizzed by!' Whizzed by? Zipped by... ‘what you hear on the album is very different then what is heard in the film.' Also noticed this after purchasing lp. ‘I was disappointed in the presentation.' Same thing here.

I just inherited a copy of this LP from a dearly departed friend. Looking forward to giving it a spin. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Keep in mind that it's an Oscar Peterson jazz recording, and not a soundtrack, and you'll enjoy it fine.
