Will there ever be a "legitimate" C.D. version of Goldsmith's score for "Sebastian" (since it was rumored to be taken off an L.P. for Harkit's version)? It's coming soon, we have been lead to believe! Sooner the better, I love that music!

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=58787&forumID=1&archive=0 It's happening, but the label involved is unknown at this stage (although it's not FSM, as per Lukas' statement). My money says that it will be a Varese Club release, based on the fact that each of their last two batches has contained a previously unavailable (at least in legitimate form) 60's Goldsmith score. I'm sure Doug Fake posted on the Intrada forum he had made enquires with MCA, who own the DOT catalogue, about doing it shortly before Harkit did their version. So surely it would be Intrada.

I'm inclined to think it's Intrada too! Me too!

Lukas' statement on the subject was a long time ago and nothing has come out. He made it in response to a SEBASTIAN CD coming from a label he viscerally hates. He may have just been hoping to hurt their sales. He's a great guy and nobody can say he isn't, but he's also human. I hope my theory is incorrect, of course.

I shall listen to the CDR burn of the lp until the last Cows in Hell come home before I buy the damnable Harkit bastard. Of course, I'll pitch it like a kleenex when it is properly produced, PAID FOR, and legitimately released...

And eventually, like always, someone will pick up, remaster and re-release the complete scores. In the meantime, Harkit are putting these out (legally) and giving others easy access to stuff that can only be acquired on OOP vinyl or bootleg. If not for Harkit, I wouldn't have The Trouble with Angels or Sebastian, scores I now thoroughly enjoy.

I went into a high street store, bought a cheap CD of music from a film I've never heard by a composer I like, and enjoyed it. When remastered, expanded releases become available, I will buy them. My conscience is clean.

Well, there it is. A legitimate dichotomy of knowledge and opinion.

I think it's been out on CD for a while now. Yes, but we are talking "legitimate" here. Look at the title of the thread.
