A friend of mine gave me a copy of this score on cd, it's a really beautiful score.
I realise after checking on Soundtrack Colllector that this score doesn't appear to have ever been released offically.
So I wondered if there are any plans by any of our favorite Film Music Specalists to release this fabulous John Barry score.
It's not a long score (30 minutes or so) but I found it a great listen.

I think Silva had the rights to this but then found that the tapes were missing. I think that the b**t originated from Barry's own copy which he kindly copied for a fan.
Others might well be able to clarify.

The story, I believe, goes that Barry gave a cassette copy of the score to a fan way back in the '70s. (i.e. don't assume Barry has a copy now.)
What is interesting is that this had an alternative take of the main title theme.
I believe Peter is correct about the Silva Screen story.
Is there a chance? There's always a chance. But right now, I think the score is on the missing list.
Of course, a label could officially do something from the cassette source. Hey, can't be any worse than using acetates, which has been done before.
But I think people would be holding out for the proper tapes. Which, you never know, might turn up one day. Things on the missing list do get found. Sometimes.
My even bigger hopes are for two others on the missing list: Walkabout and Raise The Titanic. Especially now we know there are unused cues in the Titanic score.

Well, I'm not really into those posts that just say something pointless like "Cool!" or "ORDERED!"
But, if someone's doing The Tamarind Seed in 2010, that's a most definite and enthusiastic "Hurrah!"
I am most definitely up for it.
It is, as they say (and I cringe as I use this much over-used word), 'a grail' for Barry fans.
Anyone know which label it is?

I wonder if they'll release it coupled with another Barry score.
The version I've got only lasts approx 32 minutes, but the music is superb.
I've got the "Silva "suite and although it's very good, it lacks the "punch" of the original.
2010 looks like being THE year for soundtrack releases.

It's 32 minutes, why would it need to be paired with anything.
Just be happy it's finally being released.
Oh believe me I am, I personally don't care how long the cd is, it's getting the music released that counts.
