Hi Gang,

Many of you have probably noticed that recent CDs of scores recorded with L.A. musicians list the player names in the packaging. We have thus far not done this with FSM CDs, because the AFM has graciously allowed us to post the names on our website instead...and after years of development, those lists can now be accessed through the CD product pages, for example:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/cds/detail.cfm?cdID=460

Scroll down below the track list and you'll see the musicians list, and if you click on the links you can get additional credits and breakdowns.

Neat, huh! Thanks go to Andie Childs at the AFM who has been compiling this data for us from the historical records. We will be updating the pages periodically; you'll notice the newest CDs don't yet have the player lists but they will soon. Also, of course, scores recorded with non-AFM players (in London, Rome, Munich, etc.) won't have the musician lists.

Lukas

Cool! If I were one of those musicians, I sure would appreciate the effort.

Speaking of website updates...

Lukas, any chance of getting higher-rez artwork on the pre-Star Trek II titles? I think someone mentioned it on the forum last year and you said it'd be a while. Just asking. smile

That must take a LOT of work to do. Data entry can get quite repetitious and tiresome... I applaud whomever has the task of recording and inputting all of this information into the website.

Great feature, indeed!

Lukas - this is amazing. The WORK that must have gone into compiling all this info and entering it on the website (not to mention creating the multiple links etc) just boggles the mind! And putting it out there for everyone to see, study and appreciate makes it all the more valuable. A thousand thanks to Andie for doing it and to you for spearheading the effort!

On behalf of those of us who have benefited from additional booklet space, thank you!

Thank you Lukas for acknowledging the Union and its membership. I won't make any friends for saying this, but it must pointed it out that the AFM plays a crucial role in representing, bargainning and defending these extraordinary artists, the best in the world. These musicians have poured sweat and tears into their craft and we are the very fortunate beneficiaries of their consummate skills and professionalism.

Thanks again brother...

Cheers!

I like having them in the booklet, but this is a neat way to do it.

Both ways are good. I'm just happy that they are finally, finally, finally being acknowledged.

Thanks to the forward thinking label heads. Very much appreciated.

Cheers!

I always wondered why FSM was the only major soundtrack label that didn't credit the studio players. Thanks for this, Lukas. smile

We've been doing this for over a year now - it's so much nicer online. Andie has been incredibly supportive and wonderful about getting this stuff to us and all the labels.

Thanks for this Lukas, and VERY BIG THANKS to the persons who input the names and find them in the first place. May the "inputers" and "finders" also receive proper credit for the work they do. smile

This is simply AWESOME. For so many of these scores, I've been itching to know the forces involved (as well as the specific number of musicians/section). Another great, herculean job done by Lukas and all those at FSM. An eternal thank you!
