I think this deserves its own thread.
Great news! Of course I own the original 1989 soundtrack (20 minutes of score), plus an unmentionable (70 minutes or so), but a 2CD-set is splendid. I really hope the liner notes are of high quality, how about recent interviews with both Zimmer and Ridley Scott, and an in-depth analysis of the score?
Is there a release date yet?

Of all the titles listed in the Comic Con thread, this is definitely the one that jumped right out at me.
The suite on the soundtrack album represents the best moments of the score, but I'm really excited to hear what LLL's restoration can do with the rest of it. It's such a moody, textural work, and hearing it fully remastered will be like hearing it for the first time. And if nothing else, it'll be great to have new clarity in the album tracks.
As for the movie, I've always wanted to like it more than I do. Every couple of years I'll give it another chance, thinking this will be the time I'll find what I've been missing, but every time I come away feeling appreciation for the technical craftsmanship but little else. In the end it's just too bloated and ponderous to keep me engaged. Which is a shame, because Douglas, Garcia and Takakura and great chemistry.

I have to wonder too if this portends a complete DAYS OF THUNDER on the horizon. Same studio, same composer. That would be awesome.

Hang on a second, I have to find a mop because my drool is all over the floor. Summer of 89, what a great time in my life. I have some great memories of movies from then. I remember seeing Batman in the theater at a packed midnight showing, the same day I got my driver's license. Took my girlfriend to see it and the whole crowed went "ahhhh" when the batwing was a silhouette against the moon. Thank you for releasing the expanded score.
And there are other great movie music films from that summer: Field of Dreams, Dead Poets Society, The Abyss ...
