Which of these low quantities do you think will sell out last?
Will there be any of the above which you think won't sell completely out?
My guess would be Mutiny, it's the most well known of the above. I have all of the scores save for Brothers Karamazov. Can anyone give their opinion on this one? Worth picking up?
Yes, I think THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV is worth getting.
I like it because there's an overall brooding quality to the music, and much of the orchestra play their instruments in the lower registers.
However, the Russian-ness of it all might be off-putting to those listeners who don't care for ethnic/cultural depictions or who prefer the less-dramatic & more "fun" listening experiences.
If it's any incentive, TBK shares a little novelty with TV's THE ANDERSON TRIAL by having Admiral Nelson and Captain Kirk in its cast.
I figured TR would like Green Mansions best - it's very unique. Mutiny on the Bounty is a huge score that generally transcends generational preferences. Invitation has significance w/r/t jazz, which has been discussed in another recent Kaper thread. The Brothers K is also a great score, but the analysis posted above is likely correct w/r/t this recording.
In less than 3 months, 143 copies of MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY sold out before 80 copies of GREEN MANSIONS or 157 INVITATIONs or the 196 BROTHERS KARAMAZOV.
Does anybody else have a guess as to which of these 3 titles by Kaper will sell-out next?
What happens when one of these does not sell out? I thought the only possibility is that it will sell out eventually.
Now that Mutiny has sold out, will another label take it up relatively soon? I like it a lot but I don't think I'd personally buy another while I have the FSM unless something very significant comes to light in a new release.

The impression (so far) is that the FSM stock will remain available until they are all sold out. However, if some items take a very long time to move, then I might envision a sort of "end-of-the-line" blow-out sale for those straggling titles still hanging on after the majoity of CDs have been depleted.

True, "Invitation" holds a greater degree of familiarity since its tune is known to many folks outside of the soundtrack collecting community. "Green Mansions", the film itself, has been out of circulation for a very long time before becoming available as a MOD DVD so I think many people simply haven't seen it.
Nonetheless, "Green Mansions" has impressive stereo sound quality and (as of October) its remaining stock is about half of what's left on "Invitation". (yet, "Mutiny On The Bounty" had almost double the stock of "Green Mansions" and it's now gone).

Though I think we'll all agree that "The Brothers Karamazov" will be the straggler out of these 3, most likely due to monaural sound.
And let's not forget that "Green Mansions" has "special music created by Heitor Villa-Lobos" - his name could also attract some buyers outside the soundtrack collecting community.

Yes, of course. Villa-Lobos is the first reason why I got my copy of "Green Mansions".
