Thanks John.

It wasn't there when I posted and I didn't see that other "Music of Fringe" thread.

Here's the posted info from Varese:

Original Television Soundtrack

FRINGE
Season 5

Music Composed by
Chris Tilton

FRINGE — the supernatural sci-fi crime drama from J.J. Abrams — is back for its fifth and final spellbinding season. The year is 2036. The Observers have become ruthless rulers, limiting free will and speech, and are slowly poisoning Earth’s atmosphere so that only their own kind can survive. All is not lost, however. A series of videotapes, preserved in amber, hold detailed plans for overthrowing the Observers and restoring the planet and its people. The Fringe team will undertake the most important mission of all time: retrieve the tapes, follow their clues, decipher the code, and prepare for the battle to save humanity. Join Fringe scientist Walter Bishop, FBI agent Olivia Dunham, Peter Bishop, and Olivia and Peter’s now-grown daughter, Henrietta, for 13 episodes filled with struggles, surprises and sacrifices in this explosive and emotional final season.

Composer Chris Tilton hangs on to the FRINGE musical reins for the series’ epic finale and delivers some of his finest and most dramatic scoring yet.

Warner Home Video will release Season 5 of FRINGE on May 7.

Varese Sarabande Catalog # 302 067 196 2

Hell yes! I loved the music for season 5. I'd love a 2 CD release too, though I'm not counting on it. However, I don't think it should have anything from seasons gone by on it. Either as much as they can fit from the entire season spread out on two discs. Or... Highlights from 5x01 - 5x11 on disc 1. Scores to 5x12 & 5x13 on disc 2.

No matter what, this is great to finally see!

Chris Tilton tweeted today that the release date is May 7.

I think this will probably be as good as, if not better than, the Season 3 soundtrack. (Season 5 had its issues and limitations, but the music was definitely not one of them.)

I can't believe they haven't posted the cover art or track listing yet.

If this is anything like the last four Fringe releases, it'll be delayed by VS for a few weeks or a month anyway smile

Yup. There's almost no chance it will actually come out on May 7th.

Most likely scenario is that both Fringe 5 and STID come out on May 21st.

Well, only in case they will reveal covers and tracklists this week. If not, even May 21st seems unlikely.

Considering the fact that they haven't even managed to fix their massive typo on the page yet (the name of the film is Star Trek Into Darkness, not Star Trek: Into Darkness), I am not holding my breath that they'll get these CDs out on time, no.

I agree. It isn't listed in the iTunes store for pre-order yet so I seriously doubt it will be released on May 7th. I hope I'm wrong though!

Dang, I was totally right. Pushed back to May 21.

They fixed the Star Trek Into Darkness colon issue too, though it's still listed for May 14 for now

Why do they always have issues releasing the Fringe albums when they initially say they'll be able to? Only the season 3 album came out on the original date announced. I've read it has to do with artwork, but that doesn't make sense to me. (Then again, it does. The season 3 album had an almost identical set of photos on the back as those on the back of the season's DVD/Blu-ray cover. Season 4 had completely different photos. Maybe art is the issue.)

So long as it happens, that's my primary concern. The fifth season had some of the best writing of the show.

I would imagine that Star Trek takes priority over Fringe. Or it's just artwork issues again.

They also pushed back Pain and Gain to May 21

I think everyone at Varese is too busy planning their 35th anniversary concert and surrounding events to focus on new score releases like they used to. This is likely why there have been a huge dropoff in club releases. I hope they re-focus on score releases soon.

I am honestly shocked that they are going to get the Star Trek Into Darkness soundtrack out of the door on time, considering they just recorded the last cue a couple weeks ago and locked the film late last week.

Though, I guess Star Trek: The Motion Picture was released on an extremely tight timeframe.

Perhaps an album presentation was recorded earlier, like Elfman's Planet of the Apes?

They should just wait until they are done before announcing any release date on anything. Or is it supposedly for hype purposes?
