Oh, sorry for that, Bud, I thought may be some people would be happy to like the page to get almost all film music news every day...
And it's not a fan page as it's the companion to the film music blog of the website of the magazine where I'm a journalist, which is a professional publication very well-known by our beloved labels.
But yes, it's good to give the direct links for those who are not interested, no problem with that.

Oh boy, one beautiful cover and the other belongs to Breakfast Club ?

How weird. For those that don't use the other side of the board often, I do an online video review show called "Movie Apocalypse". On episode 3 I review and recommend "Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat". Also in that same episode I discuss how Near Dark is one of my favorite vampire films as it is the one that got me into vampire films in the first place. So for me, this double release is just a wild coincidence.

These are both really cool scores. I already have the previous release of Sundown, but would love to get Near Dark if my finances get better.

yeh, it's an oddly un-atmospheric choice, considering how striking the original poster is, with the sun beams piercing... bill paxton is it? but hey, i'm in regardless.

This is FANTASTIC news and a HUGE marker on the Tangerine Dream front!

BSX are the first of our favourite labels to release an original Tangerine Dream score and should be hugely applauded. Given the lack of releases previously, it must have taken a big effort to get this one out!

Not much of a TD fan, but what I have heard this is not one of their best scores. Love Stones scores so will pick this up when other retailers list it.

It's the fact that we are seeing original TD material on the ltd labels, even if it's an album reissue. It's a big step forward. Fans have been hoping for years and we finally have one. It bodes well.

And the Bus Station track is one of TD's absolute best film cues.

No love for SUNDOWN? It's long been a favorite of mine; if you only buy one vampire western score in your life, it should be this one. Great stuff!

Very interesting Near Dark release. I sold my Silva Screen copy years ago - I regret it from time to time, so this one is very cool, especially considering Randall Larson's liner notes which I'm curious about. I doubt he has been talking to all three TD members though, perhaps only Haslinger.

I wonder how much say they had in this reissue. Would they have had to give the go ahead?

Surely not the early (1941) bit of African WWII exotica starring Gene Tierney? I believe it was Miklos Rozsa's first bona fide American score (outside the Korda orbit). No, I didn't really think so. Silly me! You can see a dismal print of that film here: http://archive.org/details/Sundown_

Unfamiliar with it but the samples sound good. Another two releases for the wish list smile

Sundown is a fantastic score. Period. Worth a blind buy.

As someone who owns the Silva release of SUNDOWN, I highly recommend it.

Enjoyable Western score by Richard Stone. Weird to think that he would go on to write Carl Stallingesque music for "Animaniacs".

No, TD has no rights to the music. I meant that Larson has maybe only talked to Haslinger for the liner notes interview.

I'm excited about the Sundown reissue. It's a score I've heard a lot of good things about (and I know that Stone is talented) but have never gotten because the original release is so scarce/expensive. To have it (hopefully) remastered with new notes is awesome.

Should be interesting to read.

Did you mean that TD has no rights to just this particular score, or their other film scores too? I'm guessing those rights in general reside all over the place? I'm just interested in what made BSX choose this particular release - was it the easiest one to get hold of smile

I wish it would pop up on British TV sometime (most TD-scored films never seem to, worse luck). And I didn't know about the little Aliens reunion in this film (Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton and Jenette Goldstein who played Lt. Vasquez). Cameron directed Aliens in 1986, Bigelow directed Near Dark in 1987, and they married in 89 so maybe Cameron recommended them. smile
