Fans of Murray Gold have patiently awaited the release of music from the most recent Doctor Who Series and they will not be disappointed. Packaged as a double CD, the soundtrack to the successful BBC TV show will be released this autumn. More details to come.
Interesting that there is nothing from the most recent two Christmas specials, jusging by track titles - "The Widow and The Wardrobe" and "The Snowmen." Will they be seeing a seperate release?
Also, I hate gatefold packaging but I'm not going to wait forever for this one...guess I'll bite the bullet in this regard.

Reminds me of the packaging for The Lost World. I still shudder at the thought of that release.

I read that to mean the "gatefold" packaging is limited to 5000. Then the print run will continue in the jewel case format. I'm more peeved about the two "bonus" cues not available on the CD. (unless there was no more room for them.)
I love the presentation! Just hoping that I'll get it at a decent price as long as the 5000 copies are still around, but I guess there's a lot of reason to believe that will be quite some time.

I believe I am going to wait for the jewel case version. Every sleeve CD I own (which is not many) was scratched before I opened it, so I do not buy them anymore. Put a score in a paper sleeve or offer it in a digital downlaod only and I walk right on by.

That's the spirit! But I really think it will take quite a while until they need to start manufacturing jewel case inlays. But I will see and will come back at your proposal if necessary.
When I asked if they would go back and do additional discs for Season 1&2, they said they couldn't say but had more stuff to come for the 50th.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a limited edition boxset release with all the seasons soundtracks plus some bonus material, which I am hoping for as there is some standout unreleased music from past seasons that were not included on the official soundtracks.

It wouldn't be the first time though. Season 4 & 5 had some iTunes only bonus tracks. Thankfully you didn't need to buy the album to get them, just the individual tracks.

I would settle for a remaster of the Season 1/2 CD...despite the great music, the sound quality isn't up to much...a VERY thin orchestra sound in places (I suspect I know why this is - an emphasis on the more electronic elements and songs to aim more at a younger audience...but of course, I could be wrong...I suspect back then no-one quite knew just how much these releases would take off). But there is SO much great music missing from that CD, a further release down the line of extra music would be a no-brainer for me.
As for Seaon 7, well, shamefully I haven't picked up Season 6 yet - but I like the change in packaging even if it is limited...I'll try and grab one...
...and I LOATHE the iTunes only bonus releases....give me QUALITY!!! Aaaarrrgghhh!!!
