There are plenty of horrible score by Zimmer, that are not only bad music but also destroys the movies.

But in YOR's humble opinion, his worst are:

"Man of Steel" and "Inception".

YOR cannot decide which one is the worst and harm the movie the most...

What is your pick?

P.S.: YOR warned you: this is for nonzimmer lovers only!

Merd of Steel: it's impossible to do worse.

I don't hate Zimmer, but I did think Man of Steel was a truly awful score.

Conceptually, Pirates 4 was awfully lazy, with wrong use of existing themes and so forth.

Personally "The Rock" or "Backdraft" was the beginning of the disaster - but I realy like his comedy scores

Holmes 2, Pirates 4 (and any phoned-in sequel scores he did)

Despicable Me, Megamind, The Bible (basically any of his collaborations with Lorne Balfe)

But the truly horrible one for me is Tears of the Sun . Back in 2004, I saw this film without knowing who composed the score and I was actively offended by that atrocious, pretensiously self-important and cliched (yes cliched even for 2004) score. I basically thought to myself "who the hell did this second-rate ripoff of Power of One meets Gladiator?" And I almost walked out of the cinema (the film is atrocious as well, full of Colonism shit).

I enjoy lots of Zimmer's stuff.

Anything post 2005 with the exception of The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons has been pretty generic (that includes his Batman work). After his Pirates scores (which I do not enjoy), he has pretty much gone into autopilot. Maybe that's what the studios want, maybe he has his minions write for him, or maybe he hasn't been inspired, but something has changed.

The Da Vinci Code was his last great score IMO.

Sorry guys, I'm a Zimmer liker.

BUT, I despise his score for Mission: Impossible 2. Just plain unredeemable.

I believe Zimmer scores are characterized by gimmicks, each of which is featured prominently during a specific time period:

80's - Early 90's: synth and simple tunes;

Mid 90's: power anthems and synth banging action music;

Late 90's - Early 2010's: ethnic feature, especially woman wailing and duduk;

Mid 2010's: ostinatos;

Current: "horns of doom" and Jack Sparrow theme variations.

If you hate one of those gimmicks, chances are you hate most of his scores during that period of time.

Wow. Yor. I thought you were done with these negative, trolling posts. What happened? Did you regress again? Please. Keep on going. The sooner for the Overlords to fully triumph with your annihilation from this board.

I was joking with ya.

I do enjoy those two cues but that score is unbearable otherwise. Very cheap feeling score.

Batman by a landslide. And I mean the 3 movies.

The Bible (basically any of his collaborations with Lorne Balfe)

See, I didn't count Bible and Henri 4 and the like because for some reason I have the idea that those are Balfe scores with Zimmer's name first only for contractual or marketing reasons. (I have no idea if that's correct or not.)

I'm convinced that Zimmer killed Yor/Andre Lux's family or something. Can't see any other reason for his Crusade of Hatred.

I'm a big Zimmer fan, but there are obviously things I'm not too keen on. I never thought he was particularly good at comedies and romantic dramas, for example.
