Disney will release Deluxe 2CD edition on November 26th and you can already pre-order at Amazon.
I initially dismissed this because of the deluxe tag, having already seen a fair amount of dissatisfactory treatments to many Disney products, film and music alike. But seeing the same for Thomas Newman's Saving Mr. Banks has stirred some degree of curiosity in me now.
Two disc set huh? Any bets the second disc will be a song compilation? Also understand why Disney changed the name too "Frozen". The Russian's already produced a CGI animated "Snow Queen" feature which an American distributor will surely use to steal Disney's thunder.
Film Music Reporter has the full details up, and by the looks of it both CDs seemingly contain materials from the film. Must be a first for a Disney animated movie.
Apparently, Alan Menken wrote a score for this film, which was later rejected, in favor of music by the composer of the Broadway hits, "Avenue Q," and "The Book of Mormon."
A few mock ups of his songs were all over youtube in 2007. The ballad cue can still be found on the web. It's titled "Love Can't Be Denied" and it's performed by Brian d'Arcy James.

I'm very glad to see instrumental versions of the songs available on the deluxe edition. I can't stand listening to the songs most of the time but I feel like I am missing some of the thematic material when I ignore them. Also, glad that it seems there is no Christmas music in here.

I can't believe it but that single demo kicks all the current songs asses. Seriously, how could they reject that??
The current songs really sound horrible, in my opinion of course.
Listened to this soundtrack this morning and I think it's overall rather bland. I think the songs are boring and unmemorable. The whole time I was listening to it thinking what would this have been like if Menken stayed on the project. I've heard the movie is good, so I'll be curious to see if opinion changes after I see it, but my first impressions are that it's just average. Listening to that rough Menken demo, I still can't believe they rejected it.
