Next Tuesday, Nov 5, 2013 at 12 pm NOON pst La-La Land Records is honored to be releasing 2 WORLD PREMIERE soundtracks by two of our favorite composers:

First up:
RESTLESS
MUSIC BY DANNY ELFMAN
LIMITED EDITION OF 2000 UNITS
LLLCD 1274
RETAIL PRCE: $19.98

PRODUCED BY DANNY ELFMAN
MASTERED BY PATRICIA SULLVIVAN AT BERNIE GRUNDMAN MASTERING
LINER NOTES BY TIM GREIVING
ART DIRECTION BY DAN GOLDWASSER

La-La Land Records and Sony Pictures Entertainment present the world premiere release of Danny Elfman’s score to the 2011 Gus Van Sant dark quirky romantic drama RESTLESS. Scored much in the style of MILK and TAKING WOODSTOCK, this quaint, beautiful little score tugs at the heart strings as well as tickles the funny bone. It’s the story of a terminally ill teenage girl falls for a boy who likes to attend funerals. New interview with director Gus Van Sant are a highlight in the detailed liner notes by Tim Greiving. Dan Goldwasser’s lovely art direction round out the package.

BONUS OFFER: If you purchase RESTLESS directly through the La-La Land Records website you will receive, at absolutely NO CHARGE, a FREE COPY of Danny Elfman’s score to TAKING WOODSTOCK. PLEASE NOTE: Supplies are limited and you are not guaranteed a copy of Taking Woodstock.

Next up:

Wow!

I've had a RESTLESS suite from some time (copied from the film's webpage), but this is great! Love Elfman in moody, textural mode.

DAYS OF THUNDER is a favourite of mine too. Of course, I've had the....uhm....boot for some time in lack of an official score release, but I guess it's time to replace that.

I'll probably order both of these. Even though I continue to be at odds with LLL's "complete & chronological" ideology, I keep loving the titles they put out regardless!

Day of Freaking Thunder? My gawd.

*faints from joy*

...

[Edit] "Fascinating, behind the scenes stories by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Tom Cruise are a true highlight of this package."

No. That would be the music, the stories are a bonus. I'm surprised both were involved in the release of the CD, can't imagine Cruise getting involved.

Well count me as excited about the Elfman release. It fills a gaping hole in his discography, since I haven't seen so much as a promo of Restless.

...too bad that Elfman's Taking Woodstock sold so poorly they're all but giving it away now, though. Bought it at full price and enjoyed it smile

i agree. taking woodstock doing so poorly is a real bummer. thank goodness it didn't stop la la from given another small totally unreleased score a try. brand spankin' new elfman is pretty amazing. and totally off my radar. that means midnight run is still to come somewhere down the line too! i hope this one dooes a little better so it can pave the way for some other smaller rarities. maybe a free taking woodstock will work wonders as promo material and convert some new fans.

DAYS OF THUNDER
Cool!!!

Is the David Coverdale song the same from the song album, or a different alternate version?

I wondered that too, since IIRC it's a Mancina composition. My guess is yes, judging by the 70-minute run time.

Let's not go there.

In either case, it will be great to get the REAL thing at long last.

I have 2 versions of Last Note Of Freedom. The album version and the other version actually has a longer intro. Sounds like a bit of score and it's great. Not sure where it came from and don't think it's in the movie. The song has always been a favorite of mine.
