I added 6000+ copies into my cart when it went up for sale and it said there were only 3000 available. So they've only sold 2000 out of the 6000 so far.

That sounds more likely.

Also, your beard is extremely weird.

The shopping cart is NEVER correct in what we have shipped. All it shows is what we have PRODUCED and is sitting on our shelves. When a title is released, I believe most labels do this, they do NOT manufacture ALL 3000 or 5000 copies of it. They make a good number that they think will get them by. Then when they get low, they order more. Like for Star Trek Expanded, if we had made all 6000 we literally would be walking over CD's as that is a LOT of boxes. Ever notice Intrada and the fine folks at La-La Land say, out of stock be back in 2 weeks or something like that. Same thing. We all make what we think will get us by then when we get low we order more to be made.

So don't ever trust the Varese shopping cart as a true record of what we have sold. smile

Hope that clears up that misconception!

I actually kept the OST for 2009 because it contained an alternate version of "Hella Bar Talk".

"Hella Bar Talk" is different between the two releases? I didn't know that.

Yeah, the 2009 OST has MUCH better percussion.

I think 6000 copies of THE HEARSE would go in a matter of hours.....

From 0:53-1:09ish is the difference. The OST version for that point has a french horn overlay where as the film version (D.E.) does NOT.

A little off topic but can someone tell me what font is used on the album artwork for Varèse's releases? I mean like what's on the spine and such.

Mine arrived a couple of days ago and I'm enjoying it immensely.

I've read many of the posts in this thread, but I may have missed it, so I'll put it in underline so anyone who knows more can answer it: having the Deluxe Edition, is there any reason to hold on to the original release?

Thanks!

I kept my copy of the OST because "Logos / Pranking The Natives" doesn't go into "Spock Drops, Kirk Jumps" like it does on the Deluxe Edition. The way how they have those two tracks joined is not right...you clearly hear that opening deep drum / timpani hit for "Spock Drops, Kirk Jumps" in the film. On the Deluxe Edition it cuts it off...but it's your choice.

Trent, thanks, I really appreciate that, and I'll listen to the differences.

What is the "Star Trek Main Theme" on the OST (track #14)? Is it a concert arrangement of the theme?

Thanks again!

On a similar note, why is the spine background black instead of white?

It's a cue called "End Credits Part 3" (you can see why they renamed it for the OST). It's on the DE at the end of the end credits track, though it's not complete there. And yes it's the same arrangement of the theme written for the first score, not a new arrangement.

Is anybody actually happy this came out?

Me! I've waited for it to be eventually released, sucks that I can't order it right away but I hope to do so soon. I'm also happy it's in a jewel case.

Meanwhile, twelve days after ordering it, I'm still waiting for SAE to despatch my copy.

Add another 10-14 days for transit, and I'll be lucky to get to hear it this month...

I guess not. All of the Varese titles I have are the older cranberry with white text or the newer white background with black text, and I've got around 20 of each kind. I was wondering why everyone was saying 'Club' release... kinda like Intrada has all kinds of categories (like "MAF") that I don't understand.... I just enjoy the music. smile

Thanks!

Thanks! I thought that they just tacked it on to get the original release over 40 minutes long. smile

I've now listened several times, and find this to be much better overall than the score for the 2009 film (I unfortunately did not get the deluxe edition at the time).

So have you heard the deluxe edition of the first Trek score from Giacchino? The cue "Jehosafats" is better than anything in the Into Darkness score.

Just got my copy in the mail.

One curiosity - what's with the standard look of the disc art? Is this normal for VS Club releases? (The only other one I own is the first Star Trek Deluxe Edition).

Otherwise, it looks nice. Can't wait to dive in. smile

Yes, all the Varese Club titles have the same disc art...just different colors usually.
