Got mine. Sounds incredible. Love the choral work toward the beginning. Reminds me of some of Herrmann's choral work on OBSESSION.

Isn't it interesting that both scores were composed in mid to late 1975? And as James says, have choral scoring in them? Great stuff!

My copy is apparently lost in the great beyond with Henry.

I placed my order on Nov 23rd and my order hasn't shipped yet on this and Home Movies.

I wonder how far behind they are?

This is always happens with Varese Club releases, I'm pretty sure it took almost a month to get my copy of THE GOONIES and ordered it on the release date.

They are slowest label when it comes to shipping, so you just have to wait.

Just spoke to them on the phone. Evidentally if you order early it means absolutely NOTHING. I was told my order will be shipped next Monday or Tuesday. They must be picking invoice numbers out of a fishbowl. What a "system"?

I only ordered HOME MOVIES, on 23/11 - and I got the shipping notice yesterday. I haven't ordered FAMILY PLOT yet though.

I usually end up waiting quite a while before I get mine as well. Normally, I will sit and read how everyone is enjoying theres for nearly three weeks before mine will arrive in the mail. Sometime I think they must send them out alphabetically, with my name starting with "W" I get them last, however when my girlfriend ordered "A Gathering of Eagles" for me she got hers four days before the shipping date announced and her name starts with an "A"!

Never seen the film nor heard the music, but I must say after listening to it, it's a wonderful score. I hear SO many musical ideas that I would hear later in JW's scores. This CD is splendid, I hope people jump on this and buy it.

I TOLD you to rent/buy this TWO weeks ago. What seems to be the problem, here?

You guys are aware that just about all Varese Club titles are mentioned as pre-orders on release date, yes? They usually aren't dispatched until a week or two later.

Just received mine today and listened to it and Home Movies at work! Not able to REALLY listen to it as I was working but so far I'm Overjoyed to have it and the liner notes to Home Movies is some of the best, most concise notes to set a mood before a listen I have ever read!

No love for me yet... I've ordered a bunch of CDs from SAE worth of 250$ two weeks ago, and I believe only thing delaying the shipping is Family Plot. Hope Varese will send it soon, or else I doubt it will come 'till Christmas :/

Just recieved FAMILY PLOT today, and I'm listening to it (volume cranked up!)
as I type this. I can't heap enough praise upon this release.
I AM TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY by the sound quality of this cd
and the beauty (and fun) of this score. Mike Matessino deserves a big
round of applause and THANKS for his outstanding work here.
It STILL sounds like stereo, to me. This is quite possibly my personal
favorite of my four favorite Williams scores, the other three being
BLACK SUNDAY, THE FURY and DRACULA. Great liner notes, too. Excellent!

You'll be happy Steve, I just put this on my Christmas list so if I don't get it for Xmas, I'll buy it with, hopefully, one of my amazon.com gift cards!

Thanks for reminding me on it.

Very pleased to finally get this score! I watched the film many times years ago since it was one of the first laserdiscs I ever bought so I'm very familiar with the music. The score really is a sampler of things to come from Williams while it echoes back to scores such as Jane Eyre. It sort of loses a bit steam after a lot of repetition later in the album, but no matter, that can be taken care of through a little editing. I'd pay 20 bucks just to get the gorgeous first track, "The First Séance".

I'm very touched by this, thank you. I felt privileged to get to work on this and was determined to do everything necessary to make this score's long overdue release the best that it could be. Bob Townson was very gracious in giving me time to make it right. The best part of the process is knowing that everyone gets to enjoy it. I just got mine yesterday and after not having heard it in a few months I found it a captivating listen. Right up there with any of Williams' best efforts.

By the way, the technical note in the booklet has a technical gaff in that it says The Missouri Breaks was from Universal, when in fact it was a United Artists film. The mistake crept in during a rewrite of that paragraph, which originally went off on an impertinent tangent about the ins and outs of MCA Records in the '70s. They'd released The Missouri Breaks on LP at one point and that eventually led to the error. Four people read through the notes after that, including myself, and all missed it, but naturally it was caught 24 hours after the booklet started printing. Oh well. All that matters is that the one surviving element of Family Plot has finally been rescued and released!

Mike
