Have you investigated Bernstein's The Carpetbaggers, Haineshisway? Is there a good reason why even the lp program is not available on CD? Of course it was one of the first things I asked about, but I believe it's been spoken for - I think we have one more Paramount Bernstein title coming, if approvals all come through.

To divert for just a moment to a Universal Bernstein, there is that obscure score for a little-known film called TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, and I know that you love that score every bit as much as I do. As many times as I've asked if anyone here knows anything about the status of the original tracks and the possibility of an OST release, never have I ever had so much as a single reply from anyone about that. TKAM is for me the holiest of all grails. What do you know of the prospects for this coming out anytime soon, or ever? I wish I knew the answer. Here's what I do know: We haven't yet been able to make an inroad with Universal, but Varese and Intrada have, and I have to imagine Mockingbird would have been something they would have gone after immediately. So, it does make one wonder if the original tracks are there.

Dear Bruce, Thank you for a wonderful CD! What a treat to properly listen to this amazing soundtrack as it should be released back in 1999. I never did like that RCA CD! You've made me realize how gorgeous the music really is! For those who appreciate Mr. Bernstein's scores, this is one you can't miss! Thanks again! Best wishes for 2012, Bob.

I had one of "those moments" about a week ago when I was going through my CDs looking for the Kritzerland "Summer and Smoke" -- and...du-oh...I realized I couldn't find it because I'd never ordered it. So I corrected that dire situation with an order -- and received my copy this week. This is an absolutely gorgeous release -- the sound is warm and detailed. The score itself, as so many others have noted, is one of Mr. Bernsteins' best. Very much in his introverted, pastoral, mode -- with a touch of angst and hysteria around the edges given the subject matter. Just wonderful with many beautiful moments of his characteristically shimmering melodies. If Bernstein speaks at all to you -- well, get this CD!

mckissid59, S&S was released... hmmm... about 2 years ago, so that's why it's not on Kritzerland main page. You can find it on "soundtrack catalog" page - http://kritzerland.com/soundtrax.htm Actually it is on the Kritzerland main page - the cover shots are at the top but if you scroll down past those there's the complete list of everything that's still available.

I probably mentioned before how much I love Bernstein's score, recently released from OliveFilms is Peter Glenville's adaptation of T. William's "SUMMER AND SMOKE". I always liked the film because of Geraldine Page's excellent performance and Bernstein's superb score. I am sad to report the Blu Ray is of average quality at best. The color is faded, it lacks clarity and the Mono sound is adequate The quality of the BD is maybe a tad better than the Standard edition. Just looked at the Blu-ray yesterday - it would have been so easy to fix the color, but Olive is just handed a master and heaven forbid they should spend a thousand bucks and have the color be perfect - and make no mistake, it would have been very easy to fix.
