Just thinking about ROCKY. 5 discs for the unreleased ROCKY, ROCKY II, ROCKY III, ROCKY V and ROCKY BALBOA. Plus 3 discs for the soundtrack versions of ROCKY, ROCKY II and ROCKY III. I'd love a Rocky set. If we had 8 discs of Rocky I'd be in Conti heaven. Still hoping. Hello fellow Conti fan!I also think a ROCKY set would easily sell 3000 copies for $120. I can see a ROCKY set selling 3000, but if they include 3 discs of the soundtrack version, I think the $120.00 is a little too high. I am believing it might be TOTC more than ROCKY. I would pay $120 for 8 discs of TOTC and I would not pay $120 for ROCKY.

I would be very happy with either set. I'm such a Conti fan I'd pay $120 for one note of his music that I don't have. From what I have read here I know that you are a big Conti fan. But when you look at Varese's website, they still have copies of Conti's NORTH AND SOUTH (2500 copies) and NORTH AND SOUTH : Book II (1500 copies) and they have reduced the prices to get them moving. Yes, ROCKY would be purchased by more people than NAS, but that still seems like a lot to sell.

Yeah, 3000 copies of 8 discs for $120 and people think Tales from the Crypt is more likely than Erich Korngold's complete surviving works? Let's make a friendly wager, Yavar. If it is an Erich Wolfgang Korngold set, you win. If it is any score or set of scores other than Korngold, I win. That seems fair, no? In all seriousness, it is only because of our strange echo chamber that we've narrowed the choices down to these two, with the tiniest shred of evidence for one and absolutely none for the other. FSM Message Board = strange echo chamber! I also find it confounding when some board members get an idea in their head about an upcoming release and are convinced that it must be true without any actual evidence to back it up. Just because MV stated he liked Korngold does not somehow equate to an 8-disc CD set of his music is coming up. Beyond MV's personal tastes, Golden Age scores are not really LLL's bread & butter, so an 8-disc set would be a risk for them, as the majority of their customers, whether you like it or not, gravitate towards 80's & 90's titles.

It's good to have you here. You are correct, Conti is my all time favorite composer, I'm probably his biggest fan. You made some good points, but I think a ROCKY set is a potential cash cow. Intrada released ROCKY IV a while back and it was, I think, an unlimited release. Granted it isn't a box set, but I think a ROCKY box set would do just fine at 3000 copies. But who knows?

I'm not sure that it'll be a Korngold set. I was being goofily over-confident in my optimism -- sorry if that didn't come through. But I am SURE that for a set of that magnitude, price, and pressing quantity that a Korngold set is MORE likely than TftC. So if you want to wager TftC specifically against Korngold then I'm totally up for that. Now a box set of all the Rocky scores or Lethal Weapon scores or the Elm Street scores available for licensing might be more likely. Those major motion picture franchises all have a big following. At that price, it would need to be something of Indiana Jones or James Bond proportions to sell 3000. My earlier suggestion of need-to-be-expanded Bond scores: Disc 1: The Man with the Golden Gun Disc 2: The Spy Who Loved Me Disc 3: Octopussy Disc 4: A View to a Kill Disc 5: Tomorrow Never Dies Disc 6: The World Is Not Enough Disc 7: Die Another Day, Pt. 1 Disc 8: Die Another Day, Pt. 2 All complete or near complete, naturally. Licence to Kill to be released separately at a later date. But I wouldn't go banco on that.

Henry, the board has been good, but I had to back off from posting some of my views. I was scolded by the moderator for making statements on here that some people did not like, including record producers. My father reads the site but will not become a member due to what goes on here. He even told me that I need to watch what I am saying. My thoughts are if the record companies do not want to hear things about their releases, good or bad, then they will never know how to fix future releases. I also do not think anyone has the right to call people names and then expect them to buy their products. If you walked into any store and the store owner started calling you names would you still buy something from them or would you walk out and go somewhere else? I would walk out! So, I have not purchased titles for that reason recently and have missed out on some good music. There is a lot of good news and thoughts here that is interesting, but it comes at a price. I do not see this on other boards where I am a member. Going back to the topic, I am hoping that there is a ROCKY set released soon, it is great music, but I do not feel that this release is ROCKY.
