Totally agree, Spymaster. Everyone, I made clear where I stand on the issue but please don't assume Crescendo didn't try reducing the price on Insurrection to get rid of their old stock. I'm pretty sure they did, which is why it's in the ballpark of $12.99 (midline) list price on Amazon, and can be had from marketplace sellers for about half that (probably around their cost on it or maybe even a little less). That's not the price the disc started at. Yavar

Come on, fellas, let's have a little civility here. People are welcome to criticize me or any CD or any label but there's really no need to turn it into a food fight. I've been happy to help out with the Crescendo CDs lately and hope people like the results. Lukas

Yes, I do think some chilling is in order. Our old Insurrection album isn't being taken away from us, and on top of it we're now getting the complete score as heard in film, plus some extras, in great sounds. Let's celebrate! Yavar

Hi Gang - hope everyone loves the new Insurrection CD from Crescendo. Just a heads up to KEEP your original CD for the album program, and the few album edits/takes that are unique to that disc—it's still in print and sounds great, which is why the new disc is a 1 (and not 2) disc set. The new album is a unique program of the score as heard in the film, plus some extras. Lukas Very Happy to hear about this. One disc is enough for me. :-)

Well, it's not much to go on, but take a look at what Lukas just said in this thread: "No extended liners for BOBW, features only. lk " http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=96180&forumID=1&archive=0&pageID=2&r=746#bottom By saying "features only" perhaps that implies future Star Trek TV releases might come from GNP? I know LaLaLand seems to have that area covered, but in addition to Best of Both Worlds, for which GNP recently released a complete & remastered edition, GNP also has rights in perpetuity to all the other Star Trek pilot scores with the exception of Enterprise (which is Decca). So it's possible we might see a complete/remastered Voyager: Caretaker, Deep Space Nine: The Emissary, or The Next Generation: Encounter at Farpoint from them. I wouldn't be all that excited for new versions of the DS9 or Voyager pilot scores myself (unless perhaps there are any session alternates of Goldsmith's Voyager theme they could include...but I'm a nutty Goldsmith completist). The DS9 one is a bit better over all but both of those were strictly in the Berman wallpaper music era IMO. Now McCarthy's Encounter at Farpoint, on the other hand...it has the biggest potential for sound improvement, it's from before McCarthy's Trek scores became completely boring (Bob Justman was in charge of music at the time), and it's probably missing more significant music than the other two pilots. I'd definitely spring for that (the packaging, like the sound, of the original release is pretty rough and I'd welcome new liner notes too). On the other hand, ST: TNG of all the Trek series is perhaps over-exposed (to the point that LLL's "Vol. 1" didn't sell nearly as well as they expected) so that may reduce the chances of GNP bothering with stuff beyond Best of Both Worlds -- who knows? (Answer: probably Lukas) Yavar

I'm excided to be getting this, but it's kind of sad too. Will it be Crescendo's final expanded TREK offering? There's nothing else. They only did three of the films, the rest of the Trek films are done except for Nemesis, which is owned by Varese, so only they can do it. "The Best of Both Worlds" is done. We have the complete TOS scores now, so that's all done. LLLR's ST:TNG said "Volume 1", implying that that possibly we might get another, so TNG is in LLLR's court. And LLLR has said they're doing Enterprise (should be this year) and Voyager (2014). There's no more Trek for them to do. There are, however, other non Trek scores for them to handle... (please oh, please, oh please, a set of "Quantum Leap")
