I love your covers...would you be willing to share them? Yeah, a single (and bigger) version of each cover would be very nice. I'll upload them to Photobucket in the next day or two and I'll post the links here. And thanks for the kind words!! I would love to use your covers for my library as well. Beautifully done!

Still ripping these CDs into my iTunes library at the moment, but couldn't resist popping Disc One into my CD player whilst ripping the other discs. I bought the original The Cage/Where No Man... GNP (think it was released by PYE here in the UK - I remember the GNP logos being clumsily edited out with a black boxes!) LP back in 1985, and then the CD when that was released. Every little imperfection is seared into my audio memory after 27 years of listening to it. I cannot believe how clean and fresh this new release is - rich & full sounding, with lots of 'you're there' presence. Really is quite stunning, like the score was recorded yesterday in fact! I'm shocked how good it sounds. Loads of details I've never heard before are revealing themselves. No audio damage than I can hear at all! I can only assume the original 1985 release was taken from different tapes (backups?). Would love to know more information about this... In the liner notes on the GNP release Neil Norman mentions, "The master tapes are from the best sources available. They have endured fire and flood at Paramount and though they do betray their age, they are still in mint condition." This new version sounds immaculate and undamaged to me. For a score I have listened to for decades, it really is like hearing it again for the very first time. Not usually one to resort to needless hyperbole, but I really am in soundtrack heaven here right now. And I still have the rest to get through! Going to treat these soundtracks like a fine vintage wine. Consume slowly. Savour the taste Thanks ever so much to everyone at LLL for this miracle of a release! Expectations well and truly bested! I find it utterly remarkable that ALL the music was available, and in mint condition. What were the chances of that being the case for a show that's 46 years of age?! Amazing. John.

Folks, thanks again for the kind words! They mean a lot to this wannabe graphic design student. Here's a link to the album on Photobucket - just let me know if there are any technical difficulties. No difficulties here; these are fantastic! Thank you very much.

I've got a few questions about the main and end titles for season 1 that I'm not finding definitive answers for in the liner notes. It doesn't mean they aren't there. It just means I'm not finding them. I would assume that all takes of both the main and end titles for each version were recorded on the same date. It does not seem reasonable to me that the end titles would be recorded several weeks after the main titles, although I believe the liner notes unintentionally imply this. 1. What are the take numbers for the used main and end titles for Season 1? (Disc 2 Tracks 1, 31 and Disc 3 Tracks 1, 46) 2. Would it be correct to assume all the takes and outtakes for the electric violin version of the main and end titles were recorded on 8/19/66 with "The Man Trap"? (I see the main title verified for this date in liner notes.) 3. Would it be correct to assume that all the takes and outtakes for the cello version of the main and end titles were recorded on 8/29/66 with "Charlie X"? 4. If the dates above are incorrect, I'd appreciate verification of the correct dates.

I just noticed I can hear someone whisper something on "Act 1 Card" from "Where No Man..." at 22 seconds into the track. Now that I know what to listen for I can also detect it on the GNP recording but it's not as clear.

NO, THEY WERE DONE AT THE CORBOMITE/BALANCE/LITTLE GIRLS SESSION IN SEPT. 4. If the dates above are incorrect, I'd appreciate verification of the correct dates. See above - LK

(Disc 2 Tracks 1, 31 and Disc 3 Tracks 1, 46) PLEASE EXTRAPOLATE FROM THE TAKES NOT PRESENTED ON DISC 5 - IT'S THE LAST TAKE, EXCEPT FOR ONE CASE WHERE IT'S IN THE MIDDLE SOMEWHERE Thanks Lukas. Part of the reason I was asking is because the outtakes track for the electric violin version apparently skips both takes 4 and 6, although the liner notes state "MT tk 1-5, 7." I also wasn't sure that every consecutive take number had been included (possible flubbed/incomplete takes, etc.). I was also considering the possibility that the final used versions were edited from multiple takes. 3. Would it be correct to assume that all the takes and outtakes for the cello version of the main and end titles were recorded on 8/29/66 with "Charlie X"? NO, THEY WERE DONE AT THE CORBOMITE/BALANCE/LITTLE GIRLS SESSION IN SEPT. Does anyone know for sure which episodes originally aired with the electric violin version? Based on the September session (9/20/66) it would have to be at least through "Where No Man..." (3) and possibly through "Mudd's Women" (6). Between the Blu-ray discs and DVDs I own, I only have this version on WNMHGB, so I don't have anything with the electric violin that includes Shatner's voice over. I am also curious as to why Steiner was apparently asked to rearrange and re-record the title music so early in production, as a replacement for Courage's electric violin arrangement that had been recorded just one month earlier.
