Been playing this from start to finish pretty much non-stop.
Definitely one of my favorite scores this year along with Alien Covenant, Spider-Man and Dunkirk.

Very excited to hear what's on the second disc. Most likely the more atmospheric, soundscape cues.

I keep going back to "Sea Wall" - some incredible stuff there and the best synth score I've heard in a long while.

I agree with you from the start! Unfortunate some of us reclaims this is going to be all on both discs......thus without extras.
please tell me that ain't true!

I am not sure WTF is happening with this soundtrack on eBay but I think the second edition is still in stock?

Looks like someone is making some bucks at 150 bucks a pop!

My bad, guess it is sold out. If you're grumbling about having bought this - it looks like your re-sale value might be okay.

I may just put up an ebay listing for the one copy I ordered (since I'm not too enamored with the digital tracks and so have no need to listen to the CDs).

There's a voice of reason! Agreed and looking forward in the hope the cd set sounds better - for some reason my download is WAY over modulated to the point of complete distortion. Was it something I did wrong?? I've still been playing it a lot & glad to see there IS a 2nd disc, tracks as yet unannounced, right? I hope the bit where K is having chow in an outdoor mall & is approached by three hooker-types is there. It's a weird source/sound efx/score cue - love that whirring sound, like traffic, but not sure what it is really.

I personally enjoy the score, but I agree also with the comments on Mesa... beautiful simple melody that was underused.

The most disappointing track is actually “Blade Runner” to me, in that it’s just a rehash of all of the tracks as a whole. If they would have just taken Mesa and built upon it as an end theme, and throw in some Vangelis hints, it really would have been a great credits sit-through theme. The end credit song for the original Blade Runner soundtrack was great and original for that movie. They should have done the same here. I think the credit songs was simply a victim of lack of time.

Probably my only major complaint about this score though.

As the majority of the score is in the digital version, and it would require 2 discs as is, I'm pretty confident the digital and disc versions are the same. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I really can't see it. I doubt there was any time to mix and add any demo versions or anything.

The timeline on the writing/recording and release of this must have been crushed as it was.

I... don't hate the score. I am a bit disappointed in that I had hoped Hans would come back full force in his 80s style - especially after hearing he pulled out that old dreaded "plug it in the wrong way and it catches fire" synth. I wasn't expecting another Vangelis score because thats a fool's errand but, while some cues are pretty okay, I'm not enamored with the whole (and outright dislike them dropping songs in the middle of the album! Always a bad choice.)

I agree. I think anyone expecting extra music is going to be disappointed. I'm thinking 12 tracks on CD 1 and 12 tracks on CD 2.

I know I said I was not going to see this, but my husband forced me into it because he had free tickets from work and he wanted to see it. Oh my, could we just be a little bit longer and please turn it up, I can not hear the 6 year old banging on a synthesizer in his parents garage!! The worst movie experience I have had in several years! Nothing like seeing viewers covering up their ears as the sound (some people try and call it music) vibrates everything in a 10 mile radius and then walking out! 3 people left 25 minutes in, then another group of 4 left 40 minutes in, then another couple left 1 hour in, leaving my husband and myself and one other couple to finish the movie. They say Zimmer/Wallfisch were paying homage to Vangelis? I would call it more of an insult. The most laughable part, my husband was the one that wanted to see it, I had to elbow him 3 times for snoring and the other times he fell asleep, he was woken up with BRAAM!

I don't come here that often, so I guess I wish I should have. This is a bit of a venting session, so apologies in advance. I saw the movie last night and loved it! So I went hunting for the CD. I just now this evening learned about this exclusive CD edition and that two runs have now sold out. I was shocked and frustrated and knew the sell out was in part due to flippers. I went to eBay and found this guy openly saying he bought 65 copies. I just sent a tweet to Epic Records asking how they could let that happen. Of course, it's business and the deed's done and I just have to get over it. But at least right now, I've got a bad taste in my mouth to even think of buying the 3rd LE series if they announce it. It just didn't need it to be this complicated in my mind. Okay, rant over. Sorry again.

I ordered the CD the day it was announced, and have yet to receive it..

Actually, he didn't.
He sold most of them for 'only' $50-$70. If you click on -68 sold-, there is purchase history.

So he actually ordered maybe around 70(!) cd sets (or more!) with the knowledge that there won't be a 3rd edition, on a short term anyway? .......sounds a bit fishy to me!
Couldn't it be someone from the salesdepartment who saw how popular these cd sets still are and got gready? They have sold pretty fast I think, maybe they regret the fact they have limited this release and make it artificially rare this way.

For the 2nd edition, I'm guessing.

The 1st edition should be shipping the 17th or 20th of October I believe.

So, soon.

They evidently changed it then, and probably not for the first time. Would explain the original discrepancy between whether it was shipping on the 17th or the 20th.

Oh goodie! Now I get to wait longer to hear the soundtrack. Sorry, not going to listen to the lossy, distorted digital download first. I refuse. I will wait for the physical copy.

Briefly, I think the music worked magnificently in the movie. As a standalone experience I think it won't be nearly as effective, although, I will say that I was impressed with parts of the score. Still, it doesn't come close to Vangelis.

And my take on the film? A slightly flawed masterpiece. Imagine had Vangelis been given the opportunity to bring even half to this movie that he did the original.

Tears In the Rain - Hans Zimmer & Benjamin Wallfisch... How can they be credited as composers on a Vangelis original track ???
