Yep. The Chinese version of the film runs 4 minutes longer and is padded out with redundant, silly scenes that apparently hurt the film pretty badly. There is a character, Dr. Wu (seen very briefly in the very beginning party scene in the domestic version) , who offers to help Tony Stark. "China can help!" These scenes were not done by Shane Black, from what I've read.

There are some Chinese celebrities cast as the doctors who end up removing the pieces of shrapnel from Tony's heart once and for all. That scene is also apparently slightly longer with Pepper and Warmachine visiting Tony in the hospital after the procedure.

^^^ Interesting. Didn't know they added scenes for overseas. So not only if you live overseas you get the movie before Americans like myself do, but they also get added/extended scenes. Must be nice.

Yeah, but by all accounts the Chinese audiences and critics have rejected these added scenes and even requested our shorter version.

Greatly enjoyed the film, it was funny and endearing, a lot of fun and I found I really liked Tyler's main themes used throughout, especially that groovy end title piece.

If you've seen the film then check out my interview with Brian, we go into spoiler territory and how he handled the plot points but I also put the time chunk to avoid if you want to listen to spoiler free smile

I picked up the CD before I saw the film this weekend...and after seeing the film...WOW! A good, motivating theme! And its been stuck in my head since I walked out of the AMC I went to.

I can't get "Can you dig it?" out of my head! It's also great driving to work music!

I know right! Its been a while since I left a movie with the theme stuck in my head! I think The Avengers and Prometheus were the last ones I saw that left a "theme imprint" on my mind.

We're showing the film on two screens at the theater where I work. I have Iron Man 3 playing during the intermissions in both auditoriums. Our main auditorium seats 620 people and is pretty huge. The music is cranked up pretty loud and fills the place with Brian Tyler goodness. smile

Your theater's Advil sales must be through the roof!

Thanks, I think it really adds to the experience. We're an independent theater, so it's a bit easier for us. The best part is when someone walks out humming the theme. smile

I really liked how the theme was used in the film. Nice to see this kind of big use of a major theme. My boyfriend found it repetitive though with how much they played it. Oh well, can't please everyone.

This review takes a tumble upon observing who wrote it. Not a popular name in these parts.

Did I miss a meeting where everyone here decided that Danny Gonzales isn't "popular" for some reason?

Several meetings, actually. He's persona non grata.

"Can You Dig It" - track of the year!

I cannot stop listening to this. It's such a fun piece of music.

Regarding spoilers, its a shame they are being talked about though sometimes its hard to gauge how long to wait (after America has had its release, full worldwide release, at the DVD/Blu-Ray release and on & on) but given the forum has spoiler tags they really really should be used in deference to others.

Speaking of which, oh my god, my favourite character is T (Trevor or Terry?) Slattery. He was just too funny and so perfectly over the top / nudge nudge wink wink

I need to see the movie again but I liked how the music was handled, very much the beginning was good use of songs / standards and then the score started to creep in. "Can you dig it" was a perfect cap for the movie particularly with the visuals. It very much felt like, if that was the end that would be fine & a high to go out on.

Tyler did a great job of coming up with some themes that I couldn't help but hum as I left the cinema. I am very much buying the CD / lossless download.

Speaking of which, has anyone bought the download from http://www.qobuz.com/album/iron-man-3-brian-tyler/0005008728572 ? Is it lacking any digital watermarking?
