Does anyone know which track on CD1 , this track on CD2: trk.9. The First Killings (Alternate) (1:51), is the alternate to ? Let me see if I can rephrase that in an even clumsier manner. There is no track on CD1 called 'First Killings'. This would be an alternate to which track? That seemed to be just as awkwardly phrased. My writing and cognitive skills seem to have evaporated after midnight.

My writing and cognitive skills seem to have evaporated after midnight. I believe it's an alternate of the beginning of CD1Trk2 "Colonel Stuart" which is the music where the church guy is shot. "I feel like a piece of me is dying here with it." Got my album today. It's SO great! Every cue I ever wanted. I used to write up the fantasy track listing of this album 15 years ago. Finally it arrived. Oh man, those first 30 seconds of Chasing The Jet still gives me goose bumps!

Got mine and I'm thrilled to have all the cues I've always wanted. But somehow I can't help coming away from this just slightly disappointed. So much of the music, it seems, was dialed out of the final cut of the film and the stuff that was edited out was pretty shrill and tough to listen to. The editor was right on the money. The music behind the Windsor 114 crash is grating. Also, the music going into the Fight on the Wing is actually fairly silly, which would have given the film the wrong feel. Again, kudos for dialing that stuff out. So these great cues are bracketed with rough music that one either loves or doesn't. The finale music, as McLane blows up Stuart's jet is great, and THAT shouldn't have been drowned out with sound effects. It was either reused or rerecorded for the climax of Die Hard 3 where it worked well. I'm guessing that was tracked since apparently the climax of DH3 was a last minute reshoot. I still enjoy the first Die Hard more as music. The action writing is more exciting, where DH2 tends to go for sharp, shrill pounding. Still, regardless, I'm happy to have it. :-)

I don't know why the first part of "Fight On The Wing" seemed to have been looped...unless it was meant to be longer and eventually cut down. For my personal edit for my iPhone I ended up trimming that first part of the cue down. I hope no one missed out on getting this set. All though I do think it's cool that it sold out in a relativity quick manor.

I loved his Herrmann moments too. Kamen does intentionally make some moments comedic. When McClane falls off the wing at the end is a good example.

A great score by Mr. Kamen. The original release of the Die Hard 2 soundtrack sort of became the faux Die Hard soundtrack for the first movie. With two releases of the original Die Hard Soundtrack, it's great that Die Hard 2 can now be judged on it's own merits in expanded form.

It's just that the first moments of "Fight On The Wing Cont." are just so light, I can't imagine how it would have fit. It was also so low, it never would have survived among the sound effects. After that start, it kicks into the "wild" bits I can appreciate. It's amazing how much of the music was dialed out.

Best year in my life. Disc 2, Track 8, Finlandia (Finale), from 2:20 to 3:10 perfectly describe the feelings I had when I ordered, waited, and finally received that soundtrack. And finally, Fight On The Wing Continues! This is like Christmas. What a wonderful action piece.

Must have been for an edited out scene. Still love it though. They just don't write them like they used to. This is because "Fight On the Wing Continues" wasn’t written for DIE HARD 2. It is a rerecording of one of Kamen's orchestral demo cues from the early 80s. Portions of the cue can be heard in a dream sequence in LIFEFORCE and the AMAZING STORIES episode MIRROR, MIRROR. Kamen explained in an interview that he and James Guthrie played around with orchestral demo cues of Kamen for LIFEFORCE and the origins of "Fight On the Wing Continues", as well as the end of "Chasing the Jet" (also used partially in the LIFEFORCE dream sequence) are most likely demo cues from Kamen's library. The full version of the "Fight On the Wing Continues" track appears on Intrada’s AMAZING STORIES VOL. 3, although heavily distorted. It’s the track “Zombies” from Kamen’s MIRROR, MIRROR episode. In the DIE HARD 2 workprint the final scene runs remarkable longer and almost the full cue is heard. The music starts during the confrontation between McClane and Stuart (instead of using tracked music from “Fight On the Wing”) and continues to play during the plane’s explosion and McClanes cheering before seguing into “Finlandia (Finale)”. Kamen seemed to have recorded yet another version of the original demo cue for Jeremy Irons’ sex scene ("No Rush") and the final helicopter battle ("Oh, Canada") at the end of DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE.
