Gather round kids... Here's the scoop...

I KNOW WHAT THE 8CD set is!!!!

I have it on very good authority that the 8CD set is Herrmann's unused score for The Birds, including alternates, outtakes, and the demos of the film as originally conceived: "The Birds! - The Opera!"

Just wait 'til you hear the Seagull aria: it blows the opera scene in Citizen Kane out of the water. And one listen to the Black Hawk Down Chorus will make you forget about Wuthering Heights. Whilst the Toucan Tap Routine seems a tad passe, I did love the lyric "Get me Peter, Finch".

One whole disc is dedicated to Hitch and Bennie workshopping bird noises. Those guys knew how to tweet.

smile

It's Thanksgiving, not April Fools Day. smile

8 CD's just for Lethal Weapon 3?! That seems a bit too much don't you think. Shame they won't release the other scores then big grin

Re: Police Academy...

...this special limited release of 3000 units features the bonus track “El Bimbo,” performed by Jean-Marc Dompierre and His Orchestra (used in legendary fashion for the film’s Blue Oyster Bar)...

A friend of mine said he'd use this song as his ringtone if it was included. I can't wait to tell him the good news! (Ya know, priorities.) smile

Yes, the crystal ball let me down with Take a Hard Ride... but it DID at least allow me to name OK Corral/Frankie Laine back on the 24th:

"Every scrap of music we could find" suggests old scores. "Endless amounts of clearances" could mean songs.
So it can't be anything else but an 8CD set of scores that feature Frankie Laine vocals:

Gunfight at the OK Corral (Tiomkin)
Rawhide (Tiomkin)
Bullwhip (Stevens)
Strange Lady in Town (Tiomkin)
3:10 to Yuma (Duning)
Man Without a Star (Salter)
Gunslinger (Tiomkin)
Blowing Wild (Tiomkin)"

Damn. If it was the first Lethal Weapon, I'd buy it in a heartbeat on Tuesday. Box set's too much for me, though, especially considering how repetitive a lot of the music in the sequels is.
