THE UNKNOWN - Music by Dominic Frontiere - written for an Outer Limits episode that was marked as a possible pilot for another series.

The score has several pretty melodies, in particular 'The Toy Dancer' cue.

Yes he often used that melodic touch.

Indeed, that melodic touch that is all too often lacking in many contemporary scores, not out of lack of talent from the newcomers, but more out of an apparent fear from producers (and some directors) of being overpowered by a beautiful and bold piece of music.

THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER (1941) - Bernard Herrmann

The Miser's Waltz is a very pretty piece of music, almost unexpected considering the subject matter.

THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER (2007? - not quite sure of the actual title that was retained for the film)

The Temptation Waltz - Christopher Young can write classy and elegant scary with the best of them, but when he writes pretty he's in a class all by himself. Great artist!

Like that incredible main theme from SPECIES, so melodic and haunting.

Indeed. And 1984's THE POWER. The first time I heard that score, I knew Young was seriously going places.

WARGAMES - 1983 - Music by Arthur Rubenstein.

Falken's House: A quiet and somber of piece of music reflecting Falken's sense of loss, the dire circmstances the young characters find themselves in and after a brief, exciting flourish, the cue ends on a delicate but omnious note.

Rubenstein captured every nuance and subtlety of the scene, underscoring every moment with the most delicate of gossamer threads.
