Scared me for a minute! Yeah, I always like attaching the art to the albums (tracks) myself....even though they're small icons now. I've gotten used to it, cover-flow view was neat, but not as easy to navigate.

aka ShiTunes, because they've never offered anything in lossless quality that is at least CD standard or higher. Only lossy compressed formats.

Never bought anything from Apple, and they never will get my money for inferior product, until they make drastic changes to their services.

Actually when I do that, I can only change the image for the first track

Hey stupid, can't you read?
It clearly states:
"Right Click on one cue or select all to set the art for the whole album"

That's the thanks I get for spending twenty minutes trying to help you idiots figure out the simplest thing.
I swear to god nothing satisfies you assholes.

There is absolutely no need for that. This is one reason why have not posted in a long while.

Anyway, I have sorted how to post artwork for each album track thanks to my friend above so I am happy!

Did you ever consider saying "thank you" instead of telling me I'm wrong?

Firstly, Johnbilj helped me out and I thanked him.
Secondly, I didn't say you were wrong.
Thirdly, I won't thank people who are rude....whether they helped me or not.

Actually you're right, I attacked the wrong person.
johnbij is the one who said that I was wrong.

I apologize for venting my wrath on you when he's the one who deserved it.

If you're getting advise from johnbij, god help you.

Apology accepted. But his advice worked and I am now happily pasting artwork into iTunes! Well, I would be if it wasn't 1am here. Night!

I stayed on the old 10.x version of iTunes and recently spent a couple of hours upgrading (but still downsizing) all 904 covers...and in the process must've liberated around 2 GB that I now can fill with my new music. wink

In my case, it would be over 3190 album covers, although several of them are blank. But I really don't think that they take up that much space on your iPod. When I look at the graph with all the music, the non-music part is quite tiny. Frankly, I'd give up a few songs just to be able to have the covers.

My understanding is that artwork adds to the file size of the MP3 and thus doesn't show up as a separate category in the space department as say separate photos of your family/vacations does. But for some that's a non-issue of course. I'm rather obsessed with reducing (where possible) the space my collections takes up on my hard drive. But I do like the look of covers as well. For the last few years I've just added artwork to the first track of each album. And actually I didn't realize you could add artwork to a whole album before reading this thread. It's sure not very intuitive how iTunes has set up adding artwork to individual tracks vs entire albums.

I currently use lightly compressed 1000x1000 artwork for my (lossless) music files, and the images are about 1/50th the size of the music data (a typical four-minute track), so they're pretty negligible.

Re-sizing nine hundred images to save the space of about half a dozen albums seems pretty crazy, considering that hard drives are extremely cheap these days!

Pete: Re: "My understanding is that artwork adds to the file size of the MP3 and thus doesn't show up as a separate category in the space department as say separate photos of your family/vacations does." Since I only have music and album cover art in iTunes, I'd have to assume that the tiny sliver in another color is the artwork, which is practically negligible compared to the space taken up by the music itself.

You're right. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said your post was 'wrong'. I should have said it is 'not clear'.

Changing meta-info on a track is a different proces than changing it on a whole album. You shouldn't have use the same screen shots to explain both.

And oh, there's a perfectly good way to explain you're not happy with my post without behaving like a jerk.

Seriously folks, I appreciate all the help you are giving here but I can't change the whole album artwork. It only works for one individual track. When I try for the whole album, that Illustration window isn't available.

If you mean the 'Artwork'-tab, that is not supposed to be there. When you want to edit the entire album: right click on the artwork, choose 'Get info'. There's an artwork-box on the first tab.

Notice that the screen is titled 'Multiple item information'. The info-screen for multiple items is different than for an individual track.

Try Right Click on the album and then Get Info. In that box on the right hand side is a small box for artwork. Right click to paste artwork in. This then updates the whole album.

This worked for me so hopefully it will for you.

ITunes definitely need to sort this out!
