you already have 3 releases of WIND out there...

Yes, and the one I have includes A Whale for the Killing. So as nice as this set seems to be, I refuse to have almost a whole score repeated wholesale

it's expanded. People here seem to buy 2 or 3 times same score with more music...

and it's just 20$ for 2 cds.

Here's a little mini review I wrote of "Behold Hawaii" (along with three other mini reviews of short scores by Basil) back in early 2012:
I had advanced hope of some tropical percussion and guitar and melodic stuff from Basil, but it's not like that. There's some percussion later on, and some kind of guitar on one track, but I can't say it's necessarily tropical.

Some orchestra, some synths -- not sure how to categorize it. But it sounds like it going with what's going on screen, at times, so there's a move here, a move there, etc.
It's not until an action cue that we get a taste of [wooden?] percussion.

I have no idea what it's about (I only care about the music, not the short film).

Overall it's an okay score. Nothing great or stand out, and certainly not his best, but there's a couple of good plesant tracks, though those tracks never reach their full height or potential. A time or two I hear some early "Robocop" stuff.

Now two grat short film scores he did, I really hope get released:
"American Journeys" and "The Magic Rolling Board".

thank goodness for that. bsx still hasn't sent me the art of travel which supposedly started shipping like 19 days ago. and no response to my inquiry. so i'll be glad to deal with intrada on this one.

I wonder if BSX had to remove the Conan: Sword and Sorcery Spectacular because Intrada is going to include it on their forthcoming release of Conan the Destroyer...

Which has absolutely nothing to do with my comment.

Well, you'll find this version is greatly expanded over the last one and sounds bit better.

It also includes a number of other items as well that I think you'd enjoy as well.

Well, autographed items sometimes take a bit longer.

I think you'll find your item was shipped out yesterday.

Then I'm sure you'll have the same opinion of THE BLUE MAX reissue from LA LA LAND that comes out tomorrow?

:-)

All kidding aside, the new version of the WHALE FOR THE KILLING has much more then the suite that appeared on the WIND CD we released.

Also this new release has a number of items that are quite interesting on it such as BEHOLD HAWAII score, the new version of the ORGY from CONAN THE BARBARIAN done by Joohyun Park and Zoe Poledouris.

Also the suite for solo piano of The themes to THE BLUE LAGOON, BIG WEDNESDAY and IT'S MY PARTY by Mark Northam is really lovely and the demo of MISFITS OF SCIENCE is just pure 80's fun.

It's a great 2 CD SET collection for only $19.99.

The WHOLE of Misfits Of Science is pure 80s fun - where's the rest?!? (Universal... tut! Rumour has it even the TV masters are lost, with only 2nd generation masters turning up on DVD in Australia etc).

That doesn't have anything to do with anything, as one can get rid of the old version of Blue Max and replace it with the new one. One can't do that with this.

OK, that statement just doesn't make any sense to me.

Still waiting and hoping that Basil's SUMMER LOVERS will appear in some form, beyond the 2 tracks we already have on the old LP.

Ford, what happened to the third CONAN Clip?

Me too! Basil is my favourite composer and I'm always hoping for the 'Summer Lovers' score to see the light of day. Not sure it would be a long score but maybe paired with another short score would be nice. The two tracks you are referring to on the LP are just so addictive. I've only been able to listen to them on youtube but hopefully one day we'll see 'Summer Lovers' on CD in some form.

I would imagine copyright issues as you speculated; most likely another label who released the Conan music saw it, contacted them and hence them leaving it off.

There is indeed not much score (as we hear it in the film, anyway) for SUMMER LOVERS...maybe 15 minutes. I'd love to find out that there is more of the same in the vaults that just didn't make it into the final cut of the film.

I'll be honest, that is something that I'd love to see happen.

I think that was the score he did after CONAN if I recall correctly and it was a hard one as well after spending a year on CONAN.

Concerning Summer Lovers, which I love, Basil has always been very inspired by Randall Kleiser's films.
Another score deserving an official release is AMAZONS, which was a fun thriller (with a fantasy prologue) TV movie directed by Paul Michael Glaser.
Anyway, even if I'm a little disappointed about the absence of Conan's live attraction music in this volume, I'll definitely pick up the CD. Basil's 80's scores are jewels.
