bumped - I'm sure someone out there in FSM land can help me out!
Probably more work than you are interested in: Maybe you could use my WorldCat link above, to search out the LP recordings in public libraries, and ask here if anyone lives in any of the cities where those libraries are.
Still searching in vain for this version! The recent death of Sylvia Syms, who narrates the series this clip comes from, reminded me of my quest. I have at last been able to make an mp3 of the clip, which I'm hoping may make identification a little easier (or not), so any input will be welcomed...

I have been to AmazonMusic and Spotify and looked at all available Mancini recordings. Of what is available on those sites, I could find no album on which Mancini recorded the theme.
And yet...it sounds more like Mancini than any other artist I can think of.

I'm so pleased you got the Mancini vibe, as he was my very first thought and still is (the horns are so Hank aren't they). And yet, as you found, there's no indication he ever recorded it. I must have gone through every version of the song I could get hold of since 2016 and still no joy, so it's a complete mystery how the Beeb got to use such an elusive recording.

I wonder if he might have recorded it especially for them during one of his concerts.
I thought I'd be able to help, but I'm stumped. I do have many "Movie Theme" LPs, which I do love. A superficial going through has ruled out the artists of the 50s and 60s so far.
The somewhat upbeat tempo and orchestration (a nice "pop" version) had me considering the 101 Strings, the Romantic Strings (or some other Reader's Digest version), Paul Weston, Herman Clebanoff, Cyril Templeton, the Longines Symphonette Society, Frank DeVol, Caravelle Orchestra, and several others. But I found no exact hits. Hmmm.
I'll give it another go over the next few days. That last scene in AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER always reduces me to a happy but blubbering mess.

Mancini did record several concerts for the Beeb, but the online blurb suggests it was all his own music, though the info is very limited so difficult to say what he actually recorded. I did wonder if it was one of his Reader's Digest outings but there's no mention of AATR on Discogs and I'm sure it would have appeared on a RD disc by now as they recycle their stuff endlessly.
It's all very perplexing! I can't understand why the Beeb told me it was the Roger Williams version, when it most obviously isn't. But thank you for your continued interest, Ron. Maybe we'll find it one day. I should have been more business-like and kept a note of all the versions I've auditioned as I may have to start all over again!

As I said to the other Ron, this is most perplexing indeed! But many thanks for your interest and input.
Performed by The Longines Symphonette Starts around 6:00
YES!! That's it!! Thank you so very much for finding this, you are an absolute star. It's lovely to hear the whole recording after all these years of searching. The arrangement is gorgeous - didn't Wally Stott have something to do with this outfit?
My word, you have made an old man very happy this evening!

You are welcome! I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to identify a piece of music or a particular performance. So I'm always happy to help out others who are "on the hunt".
Great find, Doug! Congratulations to our Premier Audio Detective!
You saved me some weekend time perusing all of the budget "Strings" LP releases, which this cue sounded like it came from. 101 Strings. The Living Strings. The Melachrino Strings. The Longines Symphonette. etc. etc. It's a really nice arrangement to boot.
