The Last Starfighter's title alone is one of the most heroic pieces of music I've ever heard. There's just something so uplifting, so energetic, and so "GOOD GUY" about it. This is something you're going to root for. I am ecstatic about this news and I hope it's given justice.
Great news! I've been hoping for a complete presentation of this score. The 1995 release is actually very good for its time, but this score definitely deserves the complete treatment.
Now if we could only get Universal to re-release it on Blu-ray with the entire score included in the mix. (To my knowledge, only one cue is missing, but still...)
Everytime I revisit The Last Starfighter I'm blown away by how rich it is thematically and orchestrationally. It's a score that deserves the best representation and how wonderful that the best source materialized. Well done Intrada! You guys have great taste
I'm all excited for the new edition of The Last Starfighter! The LP was a nice suite, and the '95 CD has been a cornerstone of my collection since it came out, but I can't wait to hear it in its entirety. I am eagerly awaiting Alex breaking the Starfighter record, along with a few of the more introspective passages.
I love that the emotional climax of the score isn't an action scene. The music for Maggie running to Alex in “Into the Starscape” is one of my all-time favorite cues.

Yes, but that was before the limited Special Collection (and Signature). MAF didn't mean exactly the same thing that it does now, ie. "We will do our best to keep this in print as long as we're in business."
I was just saying I hope this new complete Starfighter will be MAF rather than a limited Special Collection like say, Night Crossing.
"The Last Starfighter" remains one of my favorite 80's scores. What a great theme! I will definitely be buying this to replace the old Intrada version I have. City of Prague has a great rendition of the theme on their Sci-Fi album.
1. A 19 track promo CD in 2000 running 1:00:35 2. A 30 track Perseverance CD in 2006 running 1:10:33 3. A 26 track Intrada CD in 2011 running 1:08:51
I wonder what the Perseverance CD had that the 2011 Intrada did not.
I'm all for a re-issue. I got a CD-R copy of the long-gone promo, whch I have enjoyed for years. Then I had a tiny bit of money when the PR reelase came out, but skipped it with complaints about the channels and mastering. Then the Intrada CD came out and I had no money and it sold out (I also seem to recall, though I could be wrong, some people complaining about a little lackluster mix on it).
And while I can't buy any CD's this year or next (unless something changes), it's goo to know it'll likely be around when I finally have money (and if sold out, it'll probably go at a decent used price) and a new mastering. At that future financial time I'll also pick up their CD with the score to the failed TV pilot.
Clearly there is a market for this and clearly people want this. I can't toss this into the re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release crowd complaint pile, because it's only had two official releases and only one done right -- the upcoming Intrada.
I've still to this day not heard a good deal of "The Last Starfighter". It's very nice to know that when I do, I'll have the option of getting the complete thing. I could care less about the lack of co-composed songs.

Off hand, I can tell you it had an overdub of the "Remo Fanfare" as the second track on the album (and it made a terrific ringtone!) but that was all of 14 seconds.
By how much could you care less? 10%? 20%? I presume since you "could" care less as opposed to "couldn't" there is a quantifiable, identifiable figure by how much you are caring less about this.
