I bought Phoenix LPs (HERCULES, DUEL OF THE TITANS, LAST DAYS OF POMPEII) from Doug Fake at his Intrada store in San Francisco. I believe that was my first visit there.
I believe it was The Red Dawn LP. I think that was their very first release followed by an LP of Poltergeist 2. I haven't missed too many since then. Cheers!
Well, I ordered Alan Silvestri's The Avengers and Richard Bellis's Stephen King's It on the same day. these were the first releases I got from Intrada.
Definitely RED DAWN, on LP. This was Doug Fake's first step from soundtrack shop owner (I think his shop was called Cinemonde, in San Francisco, and I had previously purchased a number of scarce LPs by mail order from the shop in the early '80s) to record producer. I was never crazy about RED DAWN, but I was thrilled at Doug's announced plan to start releasing soundtracks under the new name Intrada. I made a point of ordering as often as I could, just to support the project. What a phenomenal track record since those early days!
I had to log into Intrada and view my purchase history to dig this up.
My first purchase from Intrada's website back in December 2002 was the Intrada/Windmere promo release of THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU along with the Supertracks release of BATTLE OF THE PLANETS.
The first true Intrada release that I purchased from Intrada's website was Elia Cmiral's BONES on May 18, 2003.
RED DAWN on LP. I was also there from the off, supporting someone willing to service my needs They had to price it high to offset costs and stuff, but I loved Basil Poledouris and the score so much, it was a no-brainer for me. Also bought the CD version and expansion and loved every incarnation of it.
Before I ordered online, the first intrada CD I bought had to have been either Rambo III (expanded) or Poltergeist II (special edition) in a movie memorabilia store in Brussels. Overpaid but given the times I've spun both discs, they have provided me with lots of listening pleasure.
Later I made my first order with Intrada when they released Alien with that excellent 2 CD edition.
My very first Intrada's title was from SAE - The Day of The Locust. And first Intrada's title ordered directly from them was The Deep. John Barry rules!
