A simple error, no problem to any of us really. I'm hoping it's a good omen and that we'll be seeing some more Elmer Bernstein releases from Intrada soon!

This is great!

What a wonderful surprise that Intrada is releasing these score expanded. When the samples are posted I urge everyone to check them out. .... give PICASSO SUMMER a try...it's one of Legrand's best.
Thanks to all at Intrada!

Wow, some real swift soundtrack aficionados here, really. Hopefully Mr. LeBlanc was just in a big ol' hurry to be the first to post about the release, because if Intrada did this we really will have to go brain someone over there.

SUMMER of '42/THE PICASSO SUMMER
Composed and Conducted by ELMER BERNSTEIN
INTRADA Special Collection Vol. 286

Okay, aficionados, what's wrong with this picture?

Checked the Intrada site - this one's on Mr. LeBlanc, I'm afraid. Hurrying is never a good idea. Cutting and pasting is an even worse idea. smile

With all due respect Bruce, I do not understand what you are accusing me of. Did you really think I erased Michel Legrand and typed Elmer Bernstein myself? All I did was copy and paste what Roger posted on his forum.

Please, follow this link and see for yourself:

As you can see, as soon as I noticed his mistake, I pointed it out to him in his forum, and edited the main post here.

This was my error, not Jason's.

Well, then as I said in my initial post, we all need to brain you. smile I did say that in my initial post, but Mr. LeBlanc was long gone by then and apparently didn't bother checking this thread until today?

Regardless of the error on the announcement this is a thrilling release.

This is an amazing release! After a recent listen to "The Other Side of Midnight" I was stunned by Legrand's fearlessness in his writing about matters of the heart.

Bruce, do you have something against me? I didn't do anything wrong here, and even went back and corrected my main post when the typo was discovered. What's the big deal?

If by "brain" you mean provide me with a new, fresher more functional brain, bring it on. Name the time and place.

Intrada and Kritzerland have released many wonderful titles and will continue in the future. Let there be peace between both of you.

Nah, your brain has demonstrated to be plenty functional by doing this album. I'm looking forward to getting it!

It's called Elmer Bernstein on the brain and it's contagious.

There never can be enough Legrand. Thanks Intrada.

I can't agree more. I wonder why I disliked Legrand in my younger days, but I finally saw the light. Legrand is a brilliant composer.

While we've got Intrada's attention.......

any chance of getting Legrand's "Our Time" score released? That theme is gorgeous.

If it's too short, maybe pair it up with "Breezy" which has yet to see a CD release.

Once again, for the uninitiated, this is how it works: You can't pair a score from one studio/company with a score from a different studio/company.

OUR TIME is owned by Warner Bros. and BREEZY is Universal.

You could pair OUR TIME with SWEET NOVEMBER, PORTNOY'S COMPLAINT, or ODE TO BILLY JOE (baring any copyright problems with the productions of those titles.)

I'd take any of those. Though I'm not sure of how much music is in each score.

There's lots of unreleased Legrand.

I've never seen PICASSO SUMMER---was the vocal "Summer Me, Winter Me" ever used in the movie?

No. It was one of many Legrand film themes that the Bergmans did lyrics for after the fact.

Here's a thread I started several years ago about the film that includes a clip from the movie:

While it may not be the work of Intrada, I wish something would also take care of releasing
the French movies. There are a still a number of interesting thrillers from the early 70s.

Getting OUR TIME would be lovely...would have gone great with SUMMER OF '42, given that OUR TIME is a period coming-of-age drama, made to capitalize on the success of SUMMER OF '42. Both films were produced by Richard A. Roth and both were released by Warner Bros. I have a 45 of the "Theme to Our Time," which is the only official release of any music from the film.

BOND65:

Thanks for the info. I have Streisand's cd set WHAT MATTERS MOST of Alan and Marilyn Bergman songs. Unfortunately, "Summer Me, Winter Me' isn't included.
