A 'Subzero'/'Return of the Joker' 2-disc set in the future wouldn't be a bad idea! wink

Nope - this is bad idea, 'cause I wanted separate signed booklets for each title big grin

I agree with JB Fan. Since Mystery of the Batwoman was given its own release, I really want Sub-Zero and Return of the Joker to be separate releases. Please DON'T package them together, La-La Land!

Sub Zero is a separate release. Return of Joker will most likely be part of the planned Batman Beyond set which will be either 3 or 4 discs.

Pardon me for inquiring about future plans, but were RotJ to be slipped in with a general Batman Beyond release, would you pay special attention to including cues from the film that weren't on the old Rhino release (and omitting cues that were)?
Same question goes for the core series, I suppose, since Rhino released a soundtrack to that as well.

Any Conti MV? I understand if you can't tell me.

Thanks for the insight, MV! I would love to see Return of the Joker get a separate release, and have the Batman Beyond set be 4 discs of music exclusively from the show itself, but I'll support the BB release(s) whatever your approach to it/them. smile

The Adventures of Batman and Robin, Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans reeeeealllly need to be 4 disc sets (so much incredible music!), and it'd be cool to see Batman Beyond get the same treatment!

My vote (if LLL ever wanted to know my opinion) is for separate BB & BB:TRotJ.
First of all - I'll buy all of them in first day and support LLL (yes I know that right now MV get information about 3 potential customers, but maybe our number will grow? wink )
And second - if they will be released as separate editions, we can get MORE music from BB. I know, it not the same style as my beloved B:TAS... But as I know some day mood could be so bad & depressive, that we just NEED to listen something hard-techno-futuristic-cyberpunk-rock, with it's energy big grin
Plus who knows - maybe sales will not be as good as with B:TAS, so in any cases on 4 CDs, dedicated just for BB we will get MORE music, than on 3 CDs... But I hope that they WILL sell good and in next 5-10 years we will get ALL music from DC Animated Universe (C&C of course!), including TONES music from Justice League, which was omitted this time.

A second volume of Justice League would be great. There's definitely more music from the original 52 episodes that deserves to be released! Even if we have to wait until after JLU and Batman Beyond for a second volume of Justice League, I still hope La-La Land will do it. And as with BTAS Vol 4, two discs would be fine. My impression of the JL release is that the flow of the set was a major concern when assembling it - hence why some awesome cues didn't quite make the cut - so a second volume dealing with particular odds and ends would be cool.

I wonder if JLU will get the 'highlights showcase' treatment of the Justice League release or if it will get the 'full score' treatment of BTAS and STAS. La-La Land should bear in mind that the Cadmus arc and the Legion of Doom arc might be too much to tackle in one release. I can see one volume ending with Epilogue and another one ending with Destroyer, but I can't see both story arcs getting squeezed into one volume.

The Cadmus Arc produced some really excellent music: the Galatea/Kara fight in "Fearful Symmetry", with the electric guitar and wordless choir working seamlessly in tandem; the roundtable discussions underscore in "Doomsday Sanction", and more great electric guitar (I think?) later in the episode when Batman throws the nuke off-course; the powerful piano that underscores Question's assassination attempt in "Question Authority"; the Atom/Supes standoff music that ends quite somberly in "Flashpoint", with great cues also coming up with the Watchtower cannon being activated as well as when the Ultimen are revealed; the menacing cues accompanying the second Kara/Galatea brawl (does the bit where the Watchtower turns back on remind anyone else of Horner's score for a similar scene in "Star Trek II"?) in "Panic in the Sky"; and of course who could forget the simply astounding work for "Divided We Fall", with the JLU soundscape reverberating throughout the episode, particularly in the Brainiac spaceship fight and both of Flash's big moments (I particularly love the piano accompanying Flash's first attempt to outrun Luthor/Brainiac). And I don't think there's a single cue in "Epilogue" that can safely be left on the cutting room floor! Not one!

(Sorry, I just needed an excuse to shout out all my favorite JLU musical moments!)

For those who don't remember, Bruce Timm loved the music for "Destroyer" so much that he lobbied for the home video guys to give the episode an isolated score track on its DVD release, so if you own that you can listen to the wall-to-wall action score right now.

By the way - no JLU set would be complete without the "corporate pre-packaged pop" in "Fearful Symmetry!" razz

I'm with you on The Doomsday Sanction and Divided We Fall (especially the moments you've singled out) - I love those scores! Great choices from Fearful Symmetry and Question Authority too - really great. I would certainly want other Cadmus-related episodes, like Task Force X and Epilogue, to be very well represented as well. So many other great scores too - The Return, The Cat and the Canary, Double Date, both Hawkman episodes (Shadow of the Hawk and Ancient History), Hunter's Moon, Kid Stuff, Flash and Substance.

So much great music, yet such limited disc space! Alas.

There's also a few cues from other episodes on the first DVD that got iso scores. I especially like "The Return - Luthor's Stronghold" and "Dark Heart - Let's Go to Work" (and of course the later episode has one of the best scenes in the series...)

"Let's Go To Work" is amazing. It acts as a close cousin to the main title theme while retaining a distinctive identity of its own. Timm loved the cue so much that I believe he asked for something like it for "Destroyer"!

That's an interesting tidbit! I wish I could find the list of cue titles for Destroyer - they were posted online once (possibly by Bruce Timm himself) after the score was made available on the DVD... 'Let's Go to Work' and 'Luthor's Stronghold' are absolutely fantastic, yeah. The latter comes from an episode with particularly awesome scoring (The Return).

Still can't fathom how a single 4-disc set is supposed to represent the two major JLU storylines though (not to mention a fair number of its standalone stories). Perhaps La-La Land should consider planning for two 3-disc JLU volumes? Or a 3-disc volume, followed by a 2-disc second volume (which could be a viable approach for The New Batman Adventures as well)? There are different ways of going about this, though obviously LLL have to be sure that the investment will be worth it, and the fans have to rise to the occasion.

I love the bit underscoring the sequence where Supergirl and Steel pick up Luthor.

Thank you!

'The Adventure Continues' was part of Michael McCuistion's 'Unlimited Universe' suite, and was great to hear performed live.

And yep, I completely agree about the Supergirl/Steel/Luthor bit.

This thread has some observations - some obvious, some interesting - on the various motifs to be heard in JLU.

http://www.toonzone.net/forums/threads/the-unofficial-jl-jlu-musical-theme-thread.3975531/

I'd like to hear the original idea for the "Divided We Fall" Speed Force sequence just for kicks!

You know another great cue from "The Return"? When Supergirl smashes into AMAZO and falls back to Earth. Another example of the JLU soundscape really accentuating the action!
