According to the end credits of the film, a score album is planned on Hollywood Records.

And the score is very good, full of tribal drums, African chanting and heroic brass with some urban rythms.

This score will probably be issued on vinyl.

This guy did Creed which I loved, even more than Conti's own Rocky score. Then again, Creed had Conti's original material to fall back on. I know nothing about Ludwig Göransson outside of that score.

I tend to not ever listen to a score as music or pay attention to it, unless I liked the film it was in first, or the music was good enough to grab my attention from within the film.

I'll read reviews first, because as a film? Black Panther looks intriguing whilst also feeling a bit too samey for me. I would love to be wrong, because outside of Deadpool which I loved, I'm starting to grow tired of Superhero films in general.

Name a Marvel score that hasn't been Zimmerized. The first Captain America comes closest.

Doctor Strange.

Ant-Man, Incredible Hulk. Brian Tyler was doing his own thing, though whether you consider that Zimmer mush is up to you. Debney's score had some finely non-Z moments.

And "Age of Ultron" didn't sound like Zimmer at all, probably thanks most to Elfman's contribution, so I think it's an absolute gross generalization to claim that all scores for Marvel movies are "Zimmer-ish".

Agreed, most emphatically. :O

Marvel Music and Hollywood Records have announced a score album for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ludwig Goransson (Creed, Community, Fruitvale Station) who recorded his music in London with a 132-piece western classical orchestra, African percussionists and a 40-person choir. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, February 16. Check back on this page for the track list and download link. Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Andy Serkis. The movie will be released nationwide on February 16 by Walt Disney Pictures.

I'm with Adam. I skipped scores that are download only. It's not like there is a shortage of scores already on CD that I have yet to discover or buy yet. I'm set. I'm not so desperate for the newest wiz-bang that I'll download it.

What if your favorite composer releases just a digital download of his newest score? Wouldn't you want to listen to it anyway?

I will invariably end up with a CD-R of this score, just like I have the other scores that don't get a CD release (Book Of Henry, GOTG2 and the like), but I would much rather pay for a CD if I enjoy the music from a film, cos that's how I roll.
But if this is how the studios wanna play it, soon my movie score collecting will hardly cost me a penny.

Not sure how it can hardly cost you a penny, since all of the scores above cost money to download.

I think he's being like everyone else here who is overly picky about the format scores are presented in and saying that if more scores go digital only, he'll buy fewer scores.

I would find it hilarious if one day, scores were only available digitally or in a digipak. Would be interested to see if anyone who is truly in it for the music actually stops buying simply because the music they claim to love isn't presented exactly the way they want.

I'd prefer an option of digital vs. an elaborate box full of burn-on-demand CD-Rs with little foam disc rings for protection. The more...fastidious people in this forum might collapse in a heap.
