Well that's exciting too; The Untouchables was a fantastic release.

Any hope of H.E.L.P. or Hollister? I like Joel's work on its own (The Untouchables and Stargate Atlantis themes are fantastic, in particular) but having Jerry contribute a theme to each of those projects would surely help their sales somewhat...

Well-done to Dragon's Domain.. its a purchase here, nice to get new material from a top composer.. Thank you.

The Collection series is something we very happy with and our plans are to do more with other composer's featuring little treasures that have been lost to time.

Ford A. Thaxton

Hi Ford,

Any chance of some Morton Stevens included here?

Extreme Close-up?
Tintorera?

Let's just say we are stepping into the way back machine on the next one.

Great news whatever it turns out to be... btw, what abou AMAZONS, CELTIC PRIDE, NED BLESSING, PROTOCOL?
Either way fingers crossed Vol 3 won't take this long... and Vol. 4 will follow soon as well smile

Celtic Pride and The War at Home would both have to come from Intrada I suspect, as they are both Disney.

Needless to say this is an instant purchase.

Brilliant! Thanks for the confirmation, Ford. I really appreciate that your label supports downloads when do many of the others seem reluctant or unable to do so.

Since I haven't ordered it yet (it will certainly be on my next order), can someone who got it comment on it? How are the scores like?

Received my copy yesterday, and I'm pleased to report that I enjoyed it tremendously.

PRISON FOR CHILDREN surprised me. The main titles are lovely, and have their own distinct personality, but in some ways are almost a dry run for LONESOME DOVE. The main theme and the overall ebb and flow of the music is similar. There's a slight Western vibe to it.

And I have to admit, hearing a new (to my ears anyway) Poledouris melody made me a bit sentimental. I miss his sound.

SINGLE BARS SINGLE WOMEN is a bit unusual for Basil. It has that forlorn 70's feel, anchored by another good main theme. It's as if he was channeling Bill Conti.

Put simply, if you're a Poledouris fan who enjoys his quieter scores like THE WAR AT HOME, AMANDA, or even LASSIE, I think you'll enjoy this CD.

Damn.
I just completed an order this week, but removed this title cos...well, I just don't trust BSX and their release dates and didn't want it holding up the other CD's.
Oh well, there's always the NEXT ORDER!! smile
How's the sound on the disc Sarge?
Not too archival, I hope.

It's really great BSX can release Basil's obscure jewels (let's hope we'll get Amazons) but it would be perfect if they can hire somebody for the art direction of the covers of this collection : they remind me of the worst covers of Soundtrack ! Magazine.

I believe one of the reasons they're able to do these obscure jewels is because they're not spending the money on licensing artwork. Me, I'm just glad to have the music, and if a photo of Basil on the cover makes that possible, I'm all for it!

Its not an issue, a basic cover, booklet, as long as the music is engineered to the highest quality, nothing else matters.

Well i hope some folks take the time to play it, these are two very good efforts by Basil that have been lost to time until now.

I agree with SchiffyM, Cedric, but where I think we'll find common ground: it would be fantastic if some enterprising forum member was able to come up with some good individual custom covers on their own for each score in this series.

I would welcome that!

I guess so and I agree but better covers make better sales. Well, maybe not for this kind of obscure stuff, but you see my point.
Anyway, the scores are really good, especially Prison for Children. Pure melodic Basil of the 80's.
